40th Anniversary Reissues | Truth: Pilgrim [Black]
GROUPS:   40th Reissue   Shoe   Specialty   Womens

For his 40th Anniversary, John is re-issuing his favourite styles from each decade, for a limited time, to celebrate with the world 40 years of Unique Soles for Unique Souls. A super pointy-toed, buckled tea-strap loafer with stitched wrinkled leather on the instep, the Pilgrim shoe was one of John's first women's designs which took its initial inspiration from the Victoria era. The updated design includes a rubber sole plate, 1.25" leather wrapped heel, gold lining, and features "white-waxed" leathers that will darken and age gracefully. The Pilgrim is an ode to John's humble beginnings, his values which he still aspires to, and a great testament to the genius we celebrate. "Truth and integrity since 1970"

Lilac loveliness...

I bought these as a pick-me-up present after a day of craziness last week. And pick me up, they did. The lilac truly does work as an amazing neutral. And I couldn't be happier with the comfort of these shoes. The first time I wore them, I ended up walking several miles in them with no issues at all. Just for reference, I found them to be true to size -- even with the pointed toe, I ended up with my usual size 8.5. These are my third pair of Fluevogs, and I love love love them. :-{

Love these shoes. Bought them in res and wear them with everything. The pointy toe and lovely big buckle Rawk! When I walk I love the "hooker heel" sounds that they make. All this and they're comfy too. :-B

Lost my fluginity twice today

This is the second pair I bought today (Black Bellevue Mary Jane) they were the most comfortable for my finicky feet. Tanya was super patient finally finding the best, most comfortable shoes for my feet. Was worth the time she took as I regret it not a bit, despite the hefty price. My feet will thank me every day I wear them :-D :-D Thanks Tanya!!

Love the shoes but not the quaity...

I love, love, love these shoes; they are by far my favorite pair. Amazingly comfortable and they look great, too - I get a lot of compliments on them. Unfortunately, I've had them a little over a year and they have had a lot of problems - the heel quickly scraped up, and then the sole peeled off. I took them into the store on Haight and they had the heel fixed, and the sole re-glued. The sole peeled off again almost immediately, so I took it to a different, well-reviewed local shoe repair place. The sole came off again within weeks, and I noticed the bottom of the sole has a huge crack under the sole. Not quite the quality I expect from Fluevog. All of my other pairs have lasted extremely well.

You may want to sleep in them

Received these in black as a lovely gift from a shoe savvy giver. Boy, are they terrific. The witchy style and the total comfort keeps me cheerful all day long.

these make a lot of noise as you walk and the purple color fades but i was informed of this by John Fluevog's wife (who was with him in the store!) and has a pair herself. I love the style of these shoes and wear them any time i get fancy

Love the shoes... heels not so much

So many Fluevogs are a little too high for me to wear as an every day shoe, so the Pilgrims are a brilliant mix of awesome and practical. I too found the leather wrapped heels showed damage very quickly, even from resting them on the floor mat of the car while driving. I don't dare walk across gravel in these babies. When the heels kick the bucket, I think I will be finding myself a local crafter to make some solid wood replacements. In the meantime, I waxed my heels to give them a bit more protection from the elements and from snags when they brush up against something. Seems to be working as they got more damaged during the one or two wears before waxing them than in all the wearings since. Be warned though, it will make the leather significantly darker so if you like the colour you've got, leave well alone. Heel problems aside, I still lust after the brown ones and someday hope to make them my own.

Burgundy not Red

The very first thing I said when I opened the box was "That is not very red". Looking on the website you get the idea they are going to be a bright loud red. They are in fact quite dark and more akin to the color of the burgundy suede Munsters. That is not to say that I do not like them. I still love them; they were just not quite what I was expecting. I have wide feet and was skeptical that these would fit width ways even after ordering a half size up. I was surprised when I put them on that they had alot of give. They are a bit snug on my right foot, but that will go away once they break in. Beautiful shoes <3

Purchased these today. Love them. They are uber comfy and look fantastic. I went for the black first. I love the lilac but thought I would get more use out of the black....going back for the lilac

Love these!

One of my favorite pair of Vogs! These look fantastic with pants or a skirt for work - and they look incredible with a pair of jeans on the weekend. Love the pointy toe! :-D
