In 1864, Missouri teenager Maybelle (age 16) and her family (descendants of the notorious Hatfields) fled their hometown for Texas, avoiding the approaching Union soldiers. While in Texas, Belle became friends with a renegade group of fellow Confederate Missourians, including Jesse James and his gang. Belle's first husband was a stagecoach robber, bringing Belle along for the adventure, resulting in his gruesome death. Running from the law, Belle married into the Starr clan, a Cherokee Indian family notorious for whiskey, cattle, and horse thievery, and learned their rustling ways until she was found guilty of horse theft and served nine months at the Detroit House of Corrections. Legend has it, the outlaw queen inspired fashion of the day with her strong sense of style - riding sidesaddle while dressed in a black velvet riding cape and a plumed hat, carrying two pistols with cartridge belts across her hips. Two days before her 41st birthday, she was ambushed riding home from a neighbour's house and shot several times in an act of vengeance. No one was ever found guilty of her murder, and supposedly her ghost still rides at dusk in the Oklahoma plains.

The Hit of the Conference
I bought these in aqua at the Seattle store, on a grim grey day last year when I needed something bright and happy in my life. They were perfect - they fit beautifully, never a blister and, despite the height (for my habits), I'm never teetering. I just came home from a conference in New Mexico, where they were (for me) the best thing about it - compliments on them in every session, and knowing fellow 'Voggers winked at me as if to say "ah, Belle. She's a feisty one." And, a tip for the timid regarding the bow: yes, if you tie a 'regular' bow it will work itself out. But if you follow the rules at Ian's Shoelace site for "Ian's Secure Shoelace Knot", you'll tie a bow that is both symmetrical and secure. Am I a nerd? You betcha!

My first pair of Fluevogs. I bought these in Aqua, to wear with a pinup-style dress for my bridal shower last August. They were comfortable from the second I put them on, and I get compliments from so many people every time I wear them. They are beautiful shoes. I have only had one problem with them - the metal on the ends of the ribbon is a little heavy, and if I'm doing a lot of walking, they loosen the bow and make it come undone, even if double-knotted. Other than that, I love love love these shoes and have even bought clothes specifically because they would allow me to wear these shoes more often.

I bought these in turquoise at the SF store and promptly wore them out to Pride. They did give me pressure blisters on the balls of my feet, but clear gel inserts took care of that and they are enormously comfortable. They fit true to size (6) and are wide enough for my rather duck-like feet, which is always a joy.
They never fail to garner compliments. Every time I wear them, someone always stops me to say how cute my shoes are. Fluevog love forever!

BLUE is soooo refreshing
I have been looking at these shoes for the past few months and finally saved enough, and continued to ask my husband to buy these and got them in blue a couple of weeks ago. I bought the 9 1/2 as that was the only size they had left, I thought it might be too big, but they are perfect!!!! Everytime I wear them I get compliments and I am not one to where highheels, especially being a teacher and standing all day. Can't wait to get another pair next year. I have been wearing Fluevog's for over 8 years and can't stop, great shoes and service when I go into my local store. Love it!!!! :-D

I ordered the aqua pair online and a few minutes later, got an email from my local store letting me know they had the pair in stock and would I like to come in and try them on? (The shoes weren't on display, so I wouldn't have known otherwise)
The shoes fit great and are really comfy and fun. I love how soft the leather is. And I saved on shipping! Good deal all around.

I wore these for the first time at a wedding last week and they were perfect with my vintage-styled dress. Loads of compliments and nary a sore spot even after a night of dancing. They fit true to size.

I just got my beautiful shoes in the mail yesterday, size 7 in blue, and I couldn't be happier! They fit perfectly (a true size 7), and are so incredibly comfortable. The leather is so soft; I don't think there will be any blisters from these babies. Thanks Fluevog for another great shoe, number 3 in my collection so far! :-)

I bought these in blue for my wedding. Their my 7th pair of Fluevogs! They are incredibly comfortable and fit me true to size (6.5). I find most Fluevog styles fit me true to size, especially the ones that are wider in the toe box. The shoes were a bit slippery, so I had a rubber backing put on the soles. No problems running around on a beach with these for photos! They look so cute on, another fantastic and unique design from Fluevog! He makes the most comfortable heels!
