Named after the scientist Galileo Galilei, best known as the father of modern science, who brought Mathematics, Physics, and technological advances by improving the military compass, the telescope, the microscope, the swimming costume and the thermometer. Despite being censored and banned by the Church, Galileo continued his Astronomy studies discovering Jupiter's moons, the planet Neptune, the phases of Venus, and was the first to map out craters and mountains on the Moon. In 1632, Galileo was tried by the Roman Inquisition and was found to be "vehemently suspect of heresy" and lived the rest of his live under house arrest, all for holding to his theory that the Sun does not revolve around the Earth, and the Earth is not the center of the Universe.

I got these on spring break, just wore them yesterday for the first time, due to all the snow storms we have been having, and going up half a size was the right decision for me, and like i suspected there was some rubbing of my toes, hopefully that will diminish with some breaking in. the hubby was buying new shoes for himself, and since i splurged on three pairs since last fall, didn't think our budget could handle another pair, but when picking his, he said, "we'll take them" wow! the next day he bought himself a ticket to watch the canucks, so we both scored, and from hockey widow, go Canucks!!! @>-

I tried these on over the weekend, and they reaaally grew on me (but sadly I could only buy 1 pair so I'll def get them on my next trip!) Anyway, for sizing - I went down a half size from my normal to get the right fit here. The purple strap is only for decoration, and hangs loosely over the other strap. Looks cute. Insole feels soft & molded and rubber bottom means no slipping. Heel looks high, but didn't feel all that high.
