Earl of Warwicks |
This prestigious knee-high boot, produced in one of Mexicos best cowboy boot factories using their own tough leather, built upon a sturdy leather sole and stacked leather heel features a strap, half zipper, and pull-tab for easier wear. This boot was intended to support the most courageous, whether war-torn or lovelorn, to stand tall. This boot is unisex, available from W6 to a M13, whole sizes only.

Great boot, shame about the buckle
I bought the black, and I've loved almost everything about them-- they feel comfortable, look fantastic, and the leather and leatherworking are of excellent quality.
The buckle on the right boot, however, snapped in half after less than a month of use; both boots are at the cobbler now having the buckles replaced.
I'm disappointed to see a boot at this level of workmanship-- not to mention this price point-- cheap out on the hardware. A large part of what sold me on this boot was that it had a functional strap over the instep, where I need an extra-snug fit, and I undo the buckles every time I take the boots off; they're not just decorative.
Great boot aside from that, though.

When the buckles break, make sure you contact a Fluevog store. Depending on when you purchased them, they might be covered under the warranty.

Good, but not so much overall
The boot runs a half to one size large. I'm a 6.5-7 US and the 6 fit beautifully. The brown ones do NOT have a zipper as the blurb says. It's nearly impossible to get on and off, regardless of using the pull tabs which was the recommended fix.
I have thin but athletic calves and these were too tight to even have a sock there.
Gorgeous boot. I'm sorry to have to return it.
Now for the overall service: the shipping was weak to say the least. Just the thin cardboard of the shoe box was wrapped in paper and sent. It had a huge hole in it and was trashed; double boxed would have handled this though the shipper is surely to blame somewhat. The leather was ok luckily. It just seemed very little care was put into it. No shoe bags, etc.
Also I had agreed with the rep about just doing the $12 shipping, but it was sent the $33 way anyway.
My online order got kicked to a store, then another store, then I was also contacted by a third. So there was tons of communication though it didn't seem to get what was needed.
Overall I was somewhat disappointed with this process, a shoe this expensive I was hoping for caring customer service and things seemed mostly disorganized, though the positive vibe was certainly there. The organized service was not.
I will likely shop here again, despite the issues. The shoes are gorgeous, I just don't know about doing this online.
I may never take these off again.
I don't know how much closer that these boots could get to perfect. I have thin legs and so it's hard for me to find a boot that fits my calf w/o having to have it taken in at the cobblers. These are spot on. The foot feels fantastic, I am a women's size 8.5 and I went with the size 8. I can't wait to rock these.

like wearing a castle
i just got these in black. they are ridiculously hard to get on and off, but i am hoping that, over time, it will get easier. other than that, i love them. everything below my knee feels impregnable.

Love My Montagu's
6'2" and walking like I'm 6'5". Crossing my legs and wiggling my toes on the BART train. Standing up like a hand in the small of my back. Magic boots. Pure magic. My skinny ass legs aint never felt so loved and protected and sexy. I'm a grown ass man in grown ass boots now.

love these boots
wow..about time someone made a tall boot for men that fits. i love these boots. they run one size smaller than normal, but feel fantastic. i only hope next year there will be another knee high boot for us to get. these are the best!! highly recommend

I just sent these back for refund. The calf is VERY slim; I would go so far as to say bizarrely so. I've got muscular calves, but most tall boots are merely tightish; these wouldn't even think about sliding up over the muscle. My disappointment is extreme, but this is a good reminder NOT to order tall boots online! (The foot seemed like a good fit, though, and true to size.)
Reply from Greg at Fluevog:
Yes, these are certainly a tight fit as the last they are built on is used primarily for horse riding boots. The Good News is that the leather is tough, and any good cobbler should be able to stretch the calves out to a reasonable amount.

Just got these in the brown, which does now have a side zipper :). Happy about that though it's kind of fun having the bf take my boots off. Lovely colour and shape, especially that casual masculine look. Calf is quite slim, slimmer than the Argolos - be aware ladies. I can't wear over jeans yet but maybe when they break in. Look sexy/tough under jeans and nice casual almost western look with skirts.
They run pretty true to size. I sized up (I'm a large 10 womens) to fit heavy winter socks. I'd definitely size down if you don't need thick socks because they are pretty long in the foot.

As I float around my hometown of Vancouver, BC buying all the "essentials" for Burning Man I found myself in your store. Not only will these make me feel sexy as hell on the playa, I plan on rockin' them year round. Thanks for the amazing service; Sir Jaik is the best!
