The Curie was named after the scientist best known for her study of radioactivity (a term she coined). Madame Curie created techniques for isolating isotopes, discovered two new elements, and was the first person to receive two Nobel Prizes. Despite being denied tenure at her hometown Krakow University because she was a women, Curie proved their folly by her world changing research that included the first attempts at radiology as a possible cure for Cancer.
The Curies feature vegetable-tanned leathers with a soft pebbled texture, and are built on a 0.75" platform of exposed recycled cork with a 4" solid wood heel. John designed the Curie as a natural heeled slip-on sandal for those eco-minded, fashion-forward individuals who like to prove that patriarchy is dated, and are driven to prove the undiscovered. I just bought these shoes and I love love love them - they are beautiful, fun, and flirty BUT I have really really narrow feet and they are a bit loose on me. They fit perfectly in the length but the width is a bit much and makes walking difficult (:`( I have only worn them in the house so far so Im not sure to what extent I can manage. I really don't want to return them but unless I come up with a brilliant idea to make them tighter on my feet, I will have to return them. These shoes would be amazing if my feet werent so narrow.

I was so excited to see these shoes on sale(they are now on sale for even less than when I purchased them!). I have a hard time finding "fancy" sandals that look good and are comfortable. Plus the eco element really made me happy. I ordered them in brown and indigo/gray as I was sure I would be wearing them and could not decided. The NY store was very nice and helpful over the phone and recommended going up a half size. I normally wear 7 1/2 for shoes without socks, but can sometimes wear an 8. I have almost narrow feet. I ordered size 8. They fit great and felt fantastic wearing around my apartment. More excitement!@>- Too bad it was actually when I really wore them outside a couple weeks later, thus becoming ineligible to return, that the problems began. It was the indigo/gray pair. The inner sole liner peeled back from the heel of on shoe. The balls of my feet were in severe pain after a couple hours and had developed giant blisters that took weeks to heal. This was wearing them out, normal walking, for a few hours (<4) and I wanted them off within 2 hrs but had nothing else to wear with me. (:`( I was so disappointed. I e-mailed the NY store several times and never heard back. I now have two beautiful, expensive pairs of shoes (one pair never worn) sitting in my closet and not living their Fluevog intended life. I am now very leery of ordering anything Fluevoog again.

I actually disagree with the other reviewers here. I'm normally an 8 normal width in non-fluevog sandals, and the 8.5 fit perfectly. Though at first I thought the 8.5 was too small, I realized that any larger and it would have been too loose unless I wanted flip flops. I could have even managed the 8, but the footbed was a tad short.
I'm not used to walking in cork shoes so these didn't feel as stable as most of my heels, but they're so cute and on sale so I got them anyway.

Nice and... small
I got these online, and have to admit that all comments about the size are true. By suggestion from the Toronto store, they sent me 8.5 instead of my order 8 and they are still tight and short. Most likely at least 9 would fit me, when other Fluevog shoes size 8 is perfect for me. We do not have store in Ottawa and now the return/exchange will be a bit more complicated for me |-)

Might be my favorite yet...
I own two other pairs of 'vogs (Mini Zaza's and Mini Boots), and the Curie's might be my favorite yet. The fit is a little tight, but just taking them on and off has stretched the leather, and they are super comfy. They do run small, so I'd go up two of your normal show size.

I love the design but yes - these shoes are SMALL. AND NARROW. I went up a full size & could have gone up 2 & still asked for more room.
The rubber sole on one of the shoes' heels fell off within 48 hours of wearing & I wasn't wearing them outside. They were on sale but c'mon!

Hi Kate, contact your local Fluevog store about the rubber heel lifts, that shouldn't happen, especially that fast! Our awesome staff should be able to help you out. :)

runs very small
Ok, these are the smallest Vogs I've ever tried on. Runs very small, so go up a whole size. And the braided leather portion rubbed against the top of my foot so it was really uncomfortable overall.(if you have narrow feet and low instep, these might work well for you) Too bad because they look so cute.

Perfect in Paradise
These are my very first pair of Fluevogs, and I couldn't be happier. Living in Hawaii doesn't leave a lot of room for footwear fashion, so I needed something I could kick off quick, but that would still propel me in style. These are perfect! Because we go around barefoot a lot, our feet tend to be *ahem* wider than most, so at first these were a wee bit snug. But I kept putting them on, taking them off, pulling and tugging, and after ten minutes they fit like a dream. I can only imagine that in a few years I won't be able to leave the house without them. Oh! Ash at the San Francisco store is awesome! I called to order these as we don't have a store nearby, and not only was he fantastically helpful, he knew my size before I said a word! I was so shocked, but he said it happens all the time. He Just Knows. I'm wearing my new Curies around the house tonight and feeling soooo sexy! Thank you John Fluevog!
