La clôture de fer noire qui sépare à Londres la rue Downing du grand public a toujours été un sujet de controverse, offrant une métaphore appropriée de l'accessibilité et la division entre le gouvernement et les citoyens. À chaque jour, devant ces portes, des centaines de touristes et paparazzi prennent des photos du 10, rue Downing, où vit le premier ministre britannique. Mais, ici chez Fluevog, nous sommes plus intrigués par le 12, rue Downing qui était autrefois le bureau du whip en chef. Auparavant numéroté 13, jusqu'à ce qu'il passe au feu dans des circonstances suspectes, on changea l'adresse pour le 12 par superstition.
Inspiré par les bottes de gentilshommes anciennes, John a dessiné les croquis pour une botte à bout golfe faite d'un cuir italien onctueux. Utilisant les méthodes traditionnelles du 19e siècle, la botte Downing à lacets a une semelle en cuir, un sous-bout en cuir, une courroie avec boucle amovible et un bout en amande intemporel. La légende raconte que lors des soirées très chaudes, on peut voir le fantôme de Spencer Percival sur la rue Downing, portant des bottes semblables aux bottes Downing de Fluevog.

Vivacious! But with poor craftsmanship
These shoes feel great, are incredibly comfortable and walkable, sexy and sleak, though at a cost. Within my first two weeks rivets began to pop out, and the stitching on the front of the boot began to unravel. Within 2 months I was replacing my sole completely, sadly. I wore them casually, mostly on carpets at work..

I'm not a fashionista but I love good shoes that have that special touch which makes you smaile when you wear them.
These are just great indeed: light, good support and yet flexible enough.

Very versatile
The first time I walked into a Fluevog I didn't know what to think. But I did see these and was taken aback. The design is not wingtip nor is it cap toe. It is an amalgamation of the two which sets you apart from anyone out there.
The burgundy is more of what was described to me as "oxblood". It is not lipstick red but it is not black. It is a dark red that has even darker parts mixed in so that the shoe is not one color. With me that is a must for colored shoes. I hate the plainness of a flat color shoe and it gives it a lot of character.
I have since worn them with and without the buckle which is adjustable, removable and can be worn on the instep and by the ankle. I have paired them with dark denim, cords, and suit slacks all successfully. They go with everything I own and have gotten many comments about them. Definitely a conversation piece but very classy and would be business/dress appropriate.

I LOVE my Downing Boots
Last week I had the pleasure of visiting your Portland store, saw the Fluevog Jaguar, and had my first glimpse of the totally awesome Downing boots in burgundy... which I purchased at once! I was so taken with them, that I asked to wear them as I left the store. They are very comfortable, and are the envy of all who see them; in fact I had three compliments on the cool shoes within ten minutes! Thanks again for keeping me in style! :-)
