Quality of Fluevog shoes has fallen quite a bit over the years

Bought my first Fluevogs when I grew up in Vancouver and the store was called, "Fox And Fluevog" and literally wore those shoes through my late teens well into my 20's. This pair has taught me that not everything stays the same. Pros - Comfy for its size, nice gum soul & stylish Cons - cheap dyeing on the black leather - black faded quickly leaving the shoes looking very old and worn very quickly.I have spent more money on shoe shines than the cost of the shoes just to keep them looking good. Laces are a joke - they look great for about a week until they fray and then break. Nice shoes if you have if you own a shoe shine kit and have some time on your hands to avoid coloring the stitch work. Would suggest that Fluevog spend a little more time on insuring that dyeing leather be improved.

Satan resistant, not Satan proof...

I've had my red Gibson Swirls for about two years now and still love them. They've weathered many city streets, marshy concert venues, various crime scenes and at least one close call where I found myself in the unfortunate position of being stuck between a professional dancer and an adolescent Polar Bear just before they started to rumble (but that's for another post all together). But, i'm sad to report, on a recent chance encounter with the Prince of Darkness in the Housewares section of the Pittsburgh IKEA store, after these many trials and tribulations, I finally tore a big scuff in the toecap and vamp of the right kick. Yes, I learned that day just a tiny skosch too late why they used to call him Ol' Scratch. Alas, it's time to retire the 'Vogs to the super-casual only wardrobe. Too bad, old friends, the paths won't be the same without you.

just really painful

I was fortunate enough to find an amazing deal on these exact shoes on eBay. I say fortunate, because I did not pay full retail. Unfortunately, these beautiful, beautiful shoes are infinitely painful. There is a seam running up the back on the inside where the lining of the shoe comes together. This seam sticks out noticeably and nothing can be done to soften it. It cuts into my foot and rubs terribly on both of them. I have put pads in there, which just pull my socks into the shoes, so there seems to be no good solution for this. It's a shame, because they are SO beautiful, but I bought these to be a comfort shoe and they just aren't.

Lousy Quality

I've had lots of Fluevogs and worn them happily for many, many years, including one pair for over a decade. Beware these new, Chinese-made Gibsons, however. The quality is lousy. I've had mine for less than a year: the stitching is coming apart, the inner lining has worn through, and, worst of all, the sole has broken in two places. I suppose I could get them resoled but that's pricey and frankly I don't think it's worth it. The leather tops are fabric-lined (i.e. the leather's too thin) so they've also lost their shape. What a shame, Fluevog.

LOVE MY VOGS!

I have owned my Purple and Ivory Fluevog's since the early 90's.They have been with me through my first husband, one very long boyfriend (whom I got hooked on Fluevog's) and now my second hubby :) They have moved with me across country and back at least 6 times and have travelled with me all over the world! I absolutely love them!!! I have many other pairs, but these are my favourite. Deciding on my next pair to purchase now! If you ever open a store in DC I must work there :) Thank you for your great shoes and memories that come along with them :) Please keep up the incredible quality and unique designs :)

Loved these shoes

I'm a long time Fluvog fan. I'm on my 19th pair. First bought these shoes in Vancouver what seems to be 100 years ago now. Absolutely loved them... Since that time I've had a bunch of different styles and all have been perfect. the last 3 pairs I've bought have not held up, the quality seems to be low and the span of use of the shoes has dropped significantly. As a long time fluvog fan who has historically told all my friends about the brand. Sadly, I'm out of those types of customer that simply goes away, and I've left. My wife suggested I drop a note so your aware that the degretation in quality is costing you at least one loyal customer and past fan.

My first 'vogs.

I got these shoes about 17 years ago on Newbury St. in Boston, and I was instantly in love. I wore the hell out of them all around the world for 12 years and with a bit of maintenance they remained in remarkable condition until Hurricane Katrina hit & they were a casualty of the post-K mold in my apartment. And trust me, those shoes were one of the items I was most upset about losing to the funk. --------- I just can't wait to get another pair of Angels. My wardrobe has been seriously lacking for the 5 years since. I'm just trying to figure out whether to go Gibson Swirl or to go Supervog. I'm thinking Supervog. But then there's the choice between the delicious cherry color or the cosmic blue color combo. What's a girl to do? (Ask the Angels?) ,-)

Painful breakin, Soles wore out quickly

These shoes ARE lovely, and exceedingly awesome in appearance. Customer service was exemplary. Unfortunately, my wide feet did not have the same painless experience breaking these in as other reported. On the contrary, I had 2 weeks of blistered heels, and several more weeks of the wide part of my feet aching. The Angels seemed worth the pain, so I minded little. Sadly, just 4 months and change later, the soles are already wearing thin! I do very little outdoor walking in my Fluevogs, although I do wear them in my office nearly every workday. I'm really sad to see such fine, and frankly expensive shoe soles wear out so quickly. Given the pain of breaking these in, and the quick wear, I don't know that I will be inclined to purchase a second pair of Fluevogs -- beautiful and quite awesome looking as they indeed are.

Stitching being undone

Good looking shoe, it is a shoe that is fun. the shoe stitching seems to be a bit subpar. I have had it partially restitched. It is a good shoe and I can recommend it.

Angels:)

I got these in the mail yesterday and promptly wore them for a day of pounding the pavement. I was so impressed that there was no "breaking in period" they were as comfortable as if I had them forever......and being Satan resistant is just an addes bonus! There is never to much of a good thing when it comes to Fluevogs :-D
