A thankful person is a happy person. Love them, but...

I got the red/maroon combination, and I love them...I find them very comfortable but... (:`( I've noticed that they scuff very easily and the color comes off, specially the maroon (maybe a bad dye lot?)The straps where they go through the buckles look particularly faded; and if it barely rubs against something, that means another scuff mark that won't come off. (I'm talking about tapping the shoe against the table leg; it's not like I've worn them hiking!). And because of the unusual colour I cannot find a shoe polish that matches... I don't know how to restore it...John, any ideas? Kind of sad and disappointing, because I love them but I am getting paranoid about wearing them because I don't want to ruin them...and what's the point of owning the most wonderful shoes, if I'm too scared to wear them? I have two other pairs, and I never had this problem. Any ideas, anybody?

Buckle and strap fail

My one complaint about these shoes is that the buckles are too small for the strap ends to fit through after you've buckled and need to pull them out the other side. I had to take a needlenose pliers to grab the strap ends in order to successfully do this. May I suggest you redesign the buckles to be a bit bigger or not make the ends of the buckles asymmetrical so they fit through. I had to fold the leather at the end of the strap to make it fit, and it only produced a tiny bit of leather that I could not grab with my fingers. Admittedly, it is my fault that I didn't put the strap ends through at the store...I buckled them and let the ends hang out...had I known about the buckles it would have caused me to put these ones back on the shelf and pick another pair.

Cool shoes, but no "give"

I've had my Allis since last summer or fall and I don't think they've stretched at all. The leather around the front half of the shoe is rock-hard. I like them and wear them frequently, but they are not the most comfortable shoes in the world. If you have wide feet, you might want to try a different style. I end up limping around, and if my feet swell at all - ouch! *-O

Grey and green love

I bought these shoes the 2nd day that fluevog was open in Portland and I have worn them everywhere. I love these shoe and they are so comfortable. I can wear them with everything, I love the pop of color they have. I do like that they make my feet look even smaller :)

Not comfortable, but can't give them up!

I love these shoes, but they need tweaking. They're quite narrow in the toes, but if I got a bigger size, they'd slip like crazy. I'm hoping they stretch and become more comfortable, because they are the cutest shoes ever. I also wouldn't mind a clunkier sole version...maybe a rounder toe for perfect comfort?

First Fluevogs = success

These shoes were the first pair of Fluevogs that I could ever afford to get. Since I was a young girl of about 9 or 10, I had seen John Fluevog shoes advertised in Sassy magazine and dreamed of the day that I would be an adult, have a real job, and wear beautiful shoes. These were a fulfillment of my wish that also happened to, quite pragmatically, be a great pair of shoes. I get compliments every time I wear them, I like the way that they push me forward, clipping and clopping merrily as I walk on the pavement, and I feel supremely confident each time I don them. (Something about a kick-ass pair of shoes can do that...) The red and burgundy color combination can add a lovely accent to a boring outfit for work, as the shoes look dressy (albeit unconventionally so!), or said two-tone punch can render a jeans-and-t-shirts outfit on a day off the job super-cute; the shoes fulfill these tasks with equal aplomb in both instances. I don't even need to tell you that they will look great if you are going out on the town and want to look sharp. As another reviewer mentioned, the buckles and straps, though adorable, are quite fiddly, but the leather of the straps is flexible enough that I just leave the first three straps buckled at all times, and slip my foot in and out, only buckling and unbuckling the "top" strap nearest to my foot. The first couple of times wearing them I was concerned that they might be a wee bit narrow (I have absolutely average width feet), but they stretched out quickly at the tighter spots. I wear a women's size 11.5 or 43-44, so I was pleased as punch to finally find a stylish pair of women's shoes that weren't a mere variation on pumps, flats, or single-strap mary janes. The craftsmanship is also wonderful, with pretty details and a sturdy sole, and I know I will be enjoying these shoes for a long time to come. What would be my sole caveat? That's the narrowness. On the other hand, if you buy these at a Fluevog store, and they are too tight, I noticed from other comments that someone will stretch them for you. If I'd thought about it, I'd have had them stretched a bit at a shoe repair place like the ones you can find in most any town. I wish that I could have had that done, since they felt pretty tight and rubbed my feet a lot the first two times I wore them. However, it worked out all right and fairly painlessly -- just be sure to wear thicker socks as you break these in, if for some reason you don't get 'em stretched. Well, I'm off... I think I'm going to go put these very shoes on!

More Hot Taters

Can they be sweeter? I cannot imagine so. Pretty and comfortable. Hot kicks for a cool state, that's what I say. Thanks to all--especially Fellow Flue on Haight. And XOXO from the Bassets.

Amazing Alli's

My 5th pair Vogs arrived yesterday. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I have the green and Grey. I normally wear a 9 and went with a 9 in this shoe based on the helpful Salesperson at the Chicago store. They are on the narrow side but the next size up would have definitively been too big. Have been wearing them for a day and they are easing a bit in the width so think they will be fine. They are super cute and very feminine. They are even prettier that I expected. They are really comfy and well made. hoping to get another color in the near future. These will become favorites I can tell.

1st pair

I can't wear anything else! I love them! Have the burgundy/brown. I wear these all day before my feet start complaining, which is pretty amazing since I have very tender feet and even pricey leather shoes usually take me awhile to break in. Love the fit, the look, everything! I only wish I could wear them with every outfit I own. Guess I need to get more Vogs for all my dresses/ skirts and long tunic outfits. Darn!

My favorites!

Simply the most beautiful shoes! Being 6 feet tall, I tend to stay away from anything more than 1 1/2 inch heels/soles. Basically flats. Being a teacher I need shoes I can wear all day without my feet killing me. These are perfectly comfortable and look amazing! To be honest, sometimes I feel bad wearing them because I don't want to ruin them! I have the brown & wine in size 11 and the gray & blue in size 12. I'm between sizes with a larger left foot, high arches and a high instep. Yes, these were narrow and at first the size 11 were a bit tight. They stretched out gradually. Now, I wear them with thin socks with no hot spots or excessive tightness. The size 12 are a bit looser and needed no break in, but the right foot (smaller) slips a little. The other thing I've noticed in the brown leather is stiffer/heavier than the gray leather. So far, no problems with straps breaking, just normal wear and scuffing (!) How can I protect them?! Maybe I need back up pairs so I'll never be without them. I am now coveting the grey & green (green!!!) as well as the lace up pair I saw on the sneak preview. I better start saving!
