Le 8 novembre 1946, Viola Desmond, propriétaire d'une école et d'un salon de beauté, a été arrêtée pour s'être assise dans la section pour blancs au théâtre ségrégationniste Roseland en Nouvelle-Écosse. Viola a été sortie du théâtre avec force, passa la nuit en prison, et fut déclarée coupable d'évasion fiscale pour ne pas avoir payé la différence pour le prix du siège comparé à celui de la section de sièges du balcon pour les noirs, soit 1 sou. Viola a contesté la décision et après que la cour de la Nouvelle-Écosse ait refusé de renverser la décision et de maintenir le verdict, Viola a fermé son salon de beauté et a éventuellement quitté le Canada. La contestation courageuse de Viola a été le premier pas significatif vers l'égalisé des droits pour tous et à aider à créer le mouvement canadien des droits civiques.

Avec une toile cirée et super saturée construite sur une semelle de cuir qui se moule au pied, l'escarpin Desmond utilise des matériaux modernes dans un style classique. John a donné à la forme de la collection Presence un bout très pointu et l'a relevée avec un talon enrobé de toile de 2.75" (7 cm) en forme de losange avec des courbes accentuées donnant à ce simple escarpin un profil très distinct. Si vous collez vos chaussures semelle à semelle et talon à talon, vous découvrirez l'empreinte laissée par le coeur de John. Present yourself well. (Présentez-vous bien).

I love this style. I love it a lot. I have two pairs - one in the black waxed canvas and one in the blue waxed canvas. This style has a classic shape with a modern heel, and is absolutely beautiful AND comfortable. I tend to lean towards timeless designs - it was difficult for me to find a Fluevog pair I liked prior to the Desmond family, because a lot of the women's styles (for me, personally), are just way too 'out there' for my minimalist, 'clean-lines'-centric wardrobe. Finally - a Fluevog style I can wear!

Freaking Awesome
I wanted a somewhat dressy shoe that I could wear with jeans and a tee or a skirt and blouse. This shoe was it! I originally bought the waxed canvas blue, and went back and also bought the Cheetah. Both are now staples in my wardrobe. I am really suprised how comphy these almost 3" heels are. I am not a heel person, and they are easy to walk in. A must have!!! :-D
Size note - I went 1/2 size down from my normal size.

Desmond Cheetah Calfhair
These shoes have so much personality and are incredibly comfortable. I had originally fallen in love with the Presence Notions, which have the same print, but I tried them on at the Union Square location and they looked like clown shoes on my size 11 feet. Jenna, my Union Square guardian angel, brought me the calfhair Desmonds in a 10.5 as an alternative, and I couldn't believe how much I loved them on me. I would not have given them a second look if it weren't for her. The lines are wonderful - they elongate my already-long legs and are extremely flattering. As soon as Jenna said the word "layaway", it was all over. These are the first pair of full-price Vogs I have purchased, my fifth pair in all, and I will always love them. I secretly adore knowing that I always have the most fabulous pair of shoes in the room, no matter where I am!

Comfortable and easy to wear
I have a very hard time finding 3" heels that are comfortable, able to be worn with a dress or suit, can be worn for shopping or to the airport and overall, fit in with an active day that won't cripple you. These do that and more. Other Fleuvogs seem to be a bit narrow for me but these are so great. Room for your toes and the heel is very solid feeling. I do have the heels tipped and toppied by my lovely shoe guy so they will last a long time. Let's face it, Vancouver winter weather is tough on your heels. So great to have something offered here with a bit of personality that you can wear to the office, and no straps in sight to cut off the line of your leg if you're short, no STUMPY FRUMPY girl in these. Always, always have these available for purchse for us office gals, we need Fleuvog's too!
A love affair
I just bought these shoes on Wednesday and they are fantastic! I am so in love that I logged on to look at a picture of them while they are getting a rubber half sole put on. Obsessive much.
I have wide feet and bunions and these are comfortable for me.

Desmond Cheeta Print Shoes
OMG.. I ordered these shoes yesterday and already received them from Vancouver delivered to Trail.. I have LOTS of Fluevog's but I have to say these ones are my FAV..so comfortable they feel like slippers but look so awesome ... Love Love them!!! ,-)
