CLEARANCE | Baroques: Cortona [Burgundy]
GROUPS:   Sale   Formal   Heel   Shoe   Womens

During the Baroque Art Period, art patrons called for a more dramatic and emotional design which, unbeknown to the artists, was displayed as a means of impressing visitors by expressing triumphant power and control. Being the art historian that John is, he drew correlations between the Baroque era and modern fashion, and drew inspiration from the grandiose and opulent Cortona palaces. Built on an exquisite and decadent Louis the 14th hexagonal heel, the laced-pump Cortona combines soft stamped suedes with robust patent tips. Perfect for those who understand the delicacies of visual curves and the contrapposto of royal materials. There is no fashion like old fashion.

Exciting and Beautifully Crafted!

I purchased these and another set of Baroques and I'm just in love. They're a bit snug for wider feet, but they are true to size. The heals and soles are just amazing quality! I love that Fluevog is well made AND amazing to look at!

Love Cortona

These shoes are a dream come true. They are sexy hot and comfortable in that perfect fitting Fluevog way. My only concern is having the lifts replaced. Do the lifts need to be ordered through the Fluevog store I purchased them from?
Reply from Greg at Fluevog:
You can order heel lifts through any Fluevog store. :)

Nice - but how do I care for them?

Nice shoes ... those heels just have to make your heart go pitter-pat. They are a bit on the narrow side, but the 8 fits my 7.5/8 wideish foot just fine. Thanks Anthony in Montreal for recommending the 8. The top of the shoe rubs my ankle bones a bit too, mostly because of the way I stand, but this is softening after only one wearing. The burgandy color is fairly true to the image here (I was actually hoping it was darker, more like that shown in the Velaquez pics). I took them to a tailors to get my pants hemmed to the right length to wear with them, and the seamstress (an older European lady) nearly freaked. Called all the other ladies over. Studied the name on the side of the shoe. Somebody wrote down the name, don't know if they spelled it right. Maybe Fluevogs should come with something like the "brag-tags" that come with the hats sold by a certain persnickity Canadian hat-maker ****************************************************************************************************************** Now for my question to the elves at Fluevog - I've looked through the FAQ, and find no better way to present this question in the contact-us section so here goes - What is the best way to care for the shoes in the Baroque family? All the leather/suede protectors I've seen are NOT to be used on patent. Is there some magical stuff I haven't found yet? Should I spray regular protector and then quickly remove the spray from the patent areas (a method recommended on "The Purse Forum" website)? Should I mask the patent areas with tape before I spray? And what is the best way to care for the patent - particularly the burgandy, which has colour variation built in? Neutral polish? Just the patent shine stuff? Please - my Cortonas need to know before they go to Venice in a couple of weeks (where they just might get wet!)
Reply from Phil in Toronto at Fluevog:
You'll want to use a spray all protector to start off with, to help keep the suede in tip-top shape. Should you get any dirt on the suede, wait for it to dry then brush or bristled brush a dry toothbrush would work great. For the shiny leather, you can use a clear cream polish. Be sure to keep the cream polish only on the shiny leather, as it will stain the suede.

Happy Birthday To Me!

I purchased these as a birthday present for myself. They arrived yesterday and I LOVE them! They fit beautifully (true to size for me). I love the pop of attitude they add to my work outfits!

Old Fashion but Beautiful Fashion

Baroque: (adj) 1) A 17th Century artistic, literary and design movement noted for its "excessive ornamentation and complexity of line"; 2) A financially precarious position that one may find oneself in as a result of an addiction to Fluevog shoes :-D Kidding aside, these shoes are gorgeous. Much more beautiful in person (I bought these shoes in burgundy). I regularly wear a size 6 in Fluevogs and the Cortona was no exception. The shoe moulds perfectly to my feet for a comfortable fit. As an aside, I was drooling over these shoes for some time before I decided to buy them because I felt I needed a good excuse to treat myself. Then a few days ago realizing that September was approaching I found my reason. I bought these shoes for my anniversary - it is coming up 15 years (in Sept) for me as a cancer survivor and these shoes are the perfect way for me to celebrate.
