760 Turbo |
[Navy & Brown]
Revamping his 240 Wagon series after providing the stylish and sturdy style for 20 years, John decided an upgrade was necessary and he set his mind to transform an already time proven family into the new 760 Turbos. Using brown suedes & Atlas leathers, contrasting aniline piping, a square toed last for a wider foot, and 100% vulcanized rubber soles, The Diesel is an all-purpose shoe that's excellent on ice, snow, and slush (and dry ground of course). The 760 Turbo F-Sole even retains heat - if left in a warm dry area overnight will it give you hours of toasty toes in the winter, but don't get us wrong, they're wonderful in milder climates as well. Mark our words, these re-soleable, tough shoes will cover many miles for many years to come.
Rudolf Diesel, a Bavarian Engineer and inventor of the Diesel engine, is the patron saint of all truck drivers across the world. As a young student, Diesel assisted his former Munich professor Carl von Linde with the design and construction of a modern refrigeration and ice plant, becoming the director of the plant a year later. Later in life, Diesel sought out to build a more efficient engine using his knowledge of thermal efficiency. While experimenting with an ammonia steam engine, his test engine exploded, nearly killing him. Diesel's work in engine design was driven by the goal of much higher efficiency ratios, and eventually designed the first diesel engine with fuel injection, still in high use today. With flashing neon "Diesel" signs across lonely highways, the tired driver can be assured Rudolf is looking out for them with a microwaved hot dog, big gulp soda, and fresh "no doze" at the next truck stop. Ride on!

Excellent Shoe, Narrow Fit
I'm in love with the Diesel in black. I ordered them over the phone with Fluevog Boston.
While to toe box is roomy I find the fit to be a little narrow, but my feet are VERY picky. I'm working on breaking them in and so far they're conforming quite nicely.

Oh a tough guy eh? Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk
Jeez Louise the Diesel is one tough cookie. Solidly built of excellent leather this baby is going to be with you for a while. Comfortable from the get go. No reason why you shouldn't own this shoe.

I have been a Fluevogian for 10 years at least. My new obsession are the Diesel shoes. I may be stuck in time but I love the square toe. Great comfort. One problem, I can't find the brown in my size 12. Please demand the elves to make my shoes immediately. Thanks

Born to fit
These fit out of the box. They're good-looking, they're sturdy, the color combination of blue and orange is subtly striking (I love the shiny blue nose and the matte blue body) and they get more supple with each wearing. They're also really nicely made. I suspect I'll add more 760 turbos to my inexorably growing Fluevog collection through the years. A shoutout to Bekkie at Chicago Fluevog for her enthusiasm and great service!

Just received my shoes last friday. I choose the brown one and never seen it before. I'm very happy with the look, the color is superb. And right from the box the shoes fits perfectly
and are very comfortable.
Thanks to Dominique in Quebec store.

Yes, men's fashion 101 says that you should pretty much NEVER, EVER wear square-toed shoes: they are an outdated, ugly "pilgrim" look favored by bridge and tunnel types . . . Well, leave it to John to humbly present an awesome refutation of this rule with the Turbos. I got these guys in Navy & Brown, size 9 (I usually wear 9 or 9.5). They fit and look amazing and are the perfect match with khakis for a nice alternative to the standard oxford/loafer option for business casual outfits. I've had them for several months now and they've held up splendidly--no visible signs of wear or tear. And yes, I do get compliments on these babies :) ,-)

Just bought these last week, and from the first time I put them on, they were comfortable.
I thought the soles might be too heavy, but the weight is balanced and your foot settles into the shoe naturally! Another great pair of shoes!
