Many years ago, John found himself walking along the historic walls of the Old City of Jerusalem, and happened upon the stone portal Jaffa Gate. Also known as Gate of the Friend, John was inspired to draw up designs for a simple, military boot on the Angel sole with a burnished two-toned effect on the toe and heel, which he was able to create by using a dark wax on high-grain Italian leathers and luxurious British suedes. Produced in a Vietnamese factory, owned by Japanese shoe-makers who were trained in England using 19th century traditional methods, the Jaffa Boots are some of the most classically fabricated (and international) shoes we have made in recent years. Legend has it that every conqueror of Jerusalem will enter through the Jaffa Gate, and to be on the safe side we recommend wearing Satan-resistant boots before you walk through the gates.
