After an Alteration, Amazing!

People seem to be all over the map on the calf size of these, so here's my $.02: I'm an athletic (powerlifting, roller derby, and running), sturdy girl with pretty big calves. My legs are also really short, which means the boots have to zip over a wider portion of my leg than they would on most people. I'd lusted after these boots for years, and my husband got them for me for Christmas figuring I'd have to have them stretched to make them fit right. I put them on and they had the wonderful fit in the foot that Fluevogs always do, but I could get them zipped maybe halfway up. At the top of the zipper, there was a five-inch gap- stretching wasn't gonna cut it. I took them to a local shoemaker who put triangular leather inserts up the backs of them, making them fit PERFECTLY. The turnaround time was about a week and he charged me a little over thirty dollars for it. Now they're perfect. They're beautiful, make me feel beautiful, and look hot with a pencil skirt. These are my second pair of shoes from the Mini family, and I love that F-Sole more than I love a lot of things. Moral of the story: even if you have giant beastly calves like I do but you really want these boots, go ahead and get them! Just plan on an alteration.

Sheer perfection

The Babycakes in black are my third Fluevog purchase and a welcome addition to my footwear wardrobe. I wear a 9.5 and these boots fit perfectly in that size. The leather is so supple and I love the detailing. I was not able to zip the right boot up fully at first (apparently my right calf is a little beefier than the left) but I wore the boots around the house for an hour and it zipped right up. I'm now convinced I need these in brown -- and maybe red, too.

I love these boots! However, I did notice that they run a bit small length-wise. I had to order a half size bigger than I usually wear in Fluevogs.

Feets Don't Fail Me Now

Bought these in black, when they first came out, back in 2006. They've walked hundreds of miles with me across several continents, been re-soled, re-zippered, re-heeled, polished, buffed, waterproofed, gone riding many times on my motorcycle (and no, the heels don't get caught on my footpegs, they're perfect!), sloshed through puddles and mud and been to foncy parties too. They've looked good under boot-cut pants and good over tights and skirts, good with dresses and in the office and at shows and good playing billiards. My only regret is not also purchasing them in the three-tone green :)

A note on calf circumference

On one woman they're like galoshes, on the next they can't be zipped up....oh dear. I received these wonderful boots as a birthday gift last summer, and they have become a wardrobe staple, so I feel that I should say something in their defense. I have pretty average calves -- maybe a touch on the slim side, certainly not matchsticks -- and they fit just right on me. They make my legs look longer and slimmer than they actually are, too. But for those who find them too tight to zip up: from what I understand, they can be stretched A LOT. The leather's really soft.

Fell In Love, then got my heart broken

I love, love these boots. My biggest mistake was not looking at the calf size. I really wish that Fluevog would have different sizes in the calf. Not everyone has skinny, skinny legs. I am an average size person and could not zip up these boots. Was so sad to have to return them.

Skinny Calves Beware!

Like many other boots, these sadly did not fit my skinny calves. They ended up looking like galoshes which did a disservice to both my leg and the boot. Good thing I tried them on before buying! I will just have to admire these gorgeous boots from afar and on others. Too bad for me.

WOW, what a boot

I have walked all over the city for the past 2 days in this boot and it is fabulous. The comfort level is amazing and the compliments are very nice. The boot seems to work with my entire pant collection. I LOVE THESE BOOTS. :-D

First Pair, definitely not LAST

I have been searching for just the right pair of boots to wear for my wedding and when I stumbled upon these boots I fell in love instantly. I had never owned a pair before and so I went to the San Francisco Union Square store to try them on. I knew as soon as I took on step in them that they were PERFECT. I can't wait to wear them with my dress and then wear them again and again after the wedding. They are beautiful and unique... @>-

I'm in the love with the Red Babycakes!!

I just received the Red Babycakes & I love love love them! As soon as I saw them I knew I had to buy them right that second. I'm getting married on Halloween and my dress is black & red. These boots go perfectly with my outfit. I ordered my boots from the NYC store & the girl I ordered them from was extremely helpful & beyond nice. I normally wear a size 9 but ordered these in a 10. I have the black babycakes in a 9 1/2 and after trying on the 10, I wish I had ordered the blacks in a 10 as well. You learn from experience. :) The detail on the red babycakes is really great! :-D
