Needed some work
I found these shoes killed my toes, but a quick trip to the local cobbler had the toes stretched and the shoe fit fine. It felts snuggish at first but really cranked up the lack of comfort after a couple of hours wear. They're fine now though. I generally get my 'vogs Topyed so sole wear has not been an issue for me.

Very stylish, yet very uncomfortable
The style of the shoes is quite nice.
However they are the single most uncomfortable pair of shoes that I have ever had the displeasure of purchasing. Stiff and unyielding, the shoe digs into your heel like a knife and flexes poorly with each stride. I know there is a "break in period" for most shoes, but the level of initial "un-comfort" these shoes present is unmatched.
I'm quite sad really given that I have heard nothing but great things about the quality (and comfort) of Fluevog shoes.

Great-looking shoes, so-so quality
i saw these shoes awhile back when I was looking for a new pair of dress shoes to replace an old pair of oxfords. The style is really cool; like the colour of the brown and the cool detail stitching. So I bought the suckers, even though it was a bit over my budget. I'd broken them in around the office for maybe 3 days total, only inside wear on carpet and I noticed significant wear on the heel like the customer below. I phoned Fluevog right away and had them shipped out for repair by their cobbler at no cost to me. Great customer service, by the way. Anyway, the heel seems okay, but there is pretty significant wear to the sole on the shoes. Most likely, I will have to have them fixed sometime if I continue wearing them once every few weeks. Really disappointing, given the great look of the shoe and the price.
Great shoes - soles wear quickly!
These are some of the greatest shoes I've ever owned. They just look great, and they're even more comfortable that I thought they would be. Like one of the previous commentators though, I find the soles wear really quickly. I have been walking on them outdoors for maybe an hour total but the back of the heel is already showing significant wear - just not what I would have expected. Otherwise, like I said, just great shoes.
Fresh style. Old classic.
My Kerouacs (I have both pairs) are versatile, suitable for use with both suits and jeans. They're comfortable for long days at the office (rare) and lengthy nights on the dance floor (more likely). They look good, make me feel great and my girlfriend likes me better when I wear them. If you're looking for a fresh update on an old classic, follow the beat of your soul....as the sole instructs.

Its True! They love hearing what we say
This is a follow up post - I wrote the one about the sole of the Kerouac shoes and I have to say it is the best customer experience I have had in a decade. The site owners read my comment and contacted my local store and had my shoes fixed within 24 hours of coming in. That is the right way to use a website and it is so cool to find that the Fluevog brand goes past their amazing shoe styles! - Thanks!

Longevity of the sole
I agree with the above comment, great for office look but on second glance have some style. I wear them 3-4 times a week to work. I only walk about 3 blocks from the train in the morning, another couple at lunch and then 3 blocks back to work. I find the sole is already wearing out after 3 months. I LOVE the shoe but I expect a shoe's sole to last a bit longer than this, especially when I paid over $200.00. If there is a K2 give it a stronger sole and I would come back for it.

cooool shoes
When I made my first trip to New York, I wanted to buy brown shoes, because here in Edmonton you can only buy black shoes. We found the Fluevog store in Little Italy and were well treated by the friendly staff. They didn't actually have the brown Kerouc's I wanted, but checked and found some in Boston, where I was also going on this trip. I bought the black ones in NYC and the brown in Boston, where the staff were also very helpful. The Kerouacs are great, classic enough for the office, but with funky details that become apparent at second glance. The quality is excellent and they fit in with the image I want.
