Fall 2009 - John Fluevog Shoes
Canadian Shoe Designer announces the release of some gorgeous new lines and colours in time for the Fall 09 & Winter 09/10 season. Prepare for the mindblowing awesomeness.
ADRIAN Alexis & Alli
A comfortable and reliable woman's family featuring a swing toe last, rubber soles, and tough Bottero pull-up leathers, the Adrian family has become many ladies' go-to boots for the Wintery season. Drawn as a modern western boot on a men's boot last, the family is named after John's son Adrian who is known for his warm geniality and generosity. "A thankful person is a happy person." (Alexis $319US, $385CDN, Allie $175US, $209CDN)
BODYPART The Vibe
To commemorate the ten year anniversary of the original Body Parts shoe - a signature series with a phallic heel created as the grand prize for an AIDS benefit charity auction in 1998 - John has re-issued the famous heel with slight modifications. The Body Part family is now built on a comfy 3/4" platform with the ultra-sexy 4" phallic heel, and features gold lining and detailing with faux-reptile patent leathers. "Your Body Parts are not Communal Property." (The Vibe $379US, $425CDN).
While working on designs for a new family, John accidentally sipped from the wrong mug containing an Americano instead of his usual Cappuccino. The drawings John was working on were instantaneously bolder, sharper, blacker.. resulting in the new 3" Coffee heel. Combining the properness of the Teapots (teapot modified heel) with the naughtiness of the Body Parts (modified last), the Coffee family is about to be your new addiction. Sugar? One lump or two? "Take the time and do it right." ($369US, $469CDN)
EARTH ANGEL Micah & Elijah
John has made use of numerous earth conscious materials and processes to make this uniquely Fluevogian eco-friendly alternative. The uppers are vegetable tanned leather that are free of chromates (a standard bi-product of traditional tanning methods). Aside from using water-based adhesives, the Earth Angel soles are molded with the milk of the Hevea tree, resulting in a radical shoe that is 100% biodegradable and Fluevog-certified "uber-comfy!" Combining style and comfort, the Earth Angels leave small footprints, no matter what your shoe size. "Resists all bad things, including Satan." (Micah $159US, $199CDN, Elijah $159US, $199CDN)
A truly exquisite line - ultra slick, ultra elegant, ultra dressy with a hint of mod - the Executors feature a slightly rounded pointy toe allowing for more comfort across the width of the foot, while the stacked leather heel and tunite soles are both durable and tenacious. The dark leathers ooze with suavity and sex appeal. The styles in the Executor line are named after corrupt executives that had immense power, but were corrupted by their own selfish greed and didn't wield their power wisely, nor ethically. "Execute your Will". (Milton $305US, $379CDN)
This is a sleek, pipe line cut boot for a British temptress spy in short skirts or a mod cut stovepipe pant. Full-grain leather uppers and linings with beige contrast stitching, two mini top line buckles and a one inch thick engineer style buckle for security and fit. Signature rubber F-soles for traction and durability but be careful where you stamp that F or you may blow your cover. (Bondgirl $299US, $349CDN)
FELLOWSHIP Chinoa & Jenna
After getting cornered by an old friend at his high school reunion, John realized that some things never change, and true friendship has no boundaries. Inspired by this revelation, John designed the Fellowship family to stand the test of time, being both reliable and refined. Featuring a natural toe shape with soft rubber soles & heels, this shoe is perfect for everyday wear. "Old Friends are Good Friends." (Chinoa boot $435US, $545CDN, Jenna $319US, $399CDN)
FRONTIER HI Calamity & Sundance
This double-stitched, two timin', gunslingin' family is bound to start some trouble. Handmade in one of Mexicos best cowboy boot factories using tough veggie tanned leathers, sturdy Goodyear welted leather soles with 2" stacked leather heels, and custom cemented rubber soles - these ain't no rollin' tumbleweeds. Go ahead, walk in through those creaky saloon doors, dust yourself off, and order a tall glass of Fluesparilla. "Ditch your car, its a new frontier." (Calamity $229US, $279CDN, Sundance $329US, $395CDN)
GATEWAY ANGELS Anfield & Brandenburg
Many years ago during a very somber bank meeting where evil forces were pressing upon him, John wished he had his trusty Angel shoes on him to offer protection from the Satanic statements thrown against him. After the now historic arm-wrestling match with the Bank Manager, John designed a subtle banker's shoe with a trimmed Angel sole. Produced in a Vietnamese factory, which is owned by Japanese shoe-makers, who were trained in England using 19th century traditional methods, the Gateway Angels are some of the most classically fabricated (and international) shoes we have made in recent years. Featuring waxy Italian leathers that glow of amber and obsidian in classic business patterns of brogue details, the Gateway Angels will give you your Fluevog fix during those conservative occasions when you still need to kick Satan's ass. (Anfield $229US, $289CDN, Brandenburg $229US, $289CDN)
The Imperial makes you feel so at home in forbidden & magical palaces, it makes you wonder if perhaps you had once stood here centuries before in another life. Featuring a timeless shape that demands respect and completes any Emperor, a vintage pattern & laser etched insignia crested with scripted details, all on a durable tunite sole, the Imperial sets you at ease with its elegant details and exquisite craftmanship. (Marquis $319US, $385CDN)
A couple of years ago, a feathery friend flew the coop to visit John in his apartment. Often inspired by odd occurrences, John drew up the designs for a flat in a classic mod shape with 1" heels, glossy soles, streamlined pointed toes, and soft thin crinkly leathers making this the perfect Family for flying above the flock. "Look, the window is open..." (Finch $285US, $349CDN)
When the Mini heel was first introduced in 2001, John decided all styles with this heel would be named after lover's nicknames. Over the years, the style names have been getting extremely personal! The Minis feature contrast piping, soft analine leathers, a rubber F-Sole, and the iconic 3" hourglass heel for the ultimate traction, durability and comfort. Go on, fall in love. We dare you! (Momo $255US, $319CDN)
Believing is the hardest obstacle to overcome, especially when you see it with your own eyes. Designed with delicate swooping curves upon a hand carved wooden last, one has to wonder if John was experiencing Divine Intervention while drawing these lovely shoes. Using a Peruvian factory that has a reputation for outstanding quality and craftsmanship, the Miracles feature 3" suede wrapped heels, delicious soft suedes with patent trim, and foot molding leather soles that will take your feet down your fateful path. "Miracles are surprises of the soul." (Cana $199US, $259CDN)
PROFESSIONAL Agenda & Attache
Everyone needs a shoe to wear to that special meeting or occasion. This subtly styled slip on definitely fits the bill. The elongated, squared off toe shape in high gloss and pastel leathers reflect a smooth polished look whether they are worn with denim or wool, in the night or during the day. Simple vertical stripes under the ankle identify them as being just a touch of fun without losing their class. Full leather uppers, linings and foot sock on a resin sole with a moderate and sturdy heel. (Agenda $279US, $349CDN, Attache $265US, $329CDN)
John has been making Creepers since the days when he would use engine grease to quaff his ducktail. Always experimenting with traditional forms, John brings you an updated Creeper design with square toes, three buckles, laser-printed designs on soft Italian suedes, and veldt lasted on natural crepe soles. "Resist conformity - be unique." ($205US, $245CDN)
