June 2011 - John Fluevog Shoes
After thirty long years of hunting, John Fluevog Shoes has finally found
the perfect retail space and location to open John Fluevog Calgary!
Aiming to have the doors open by the Stampede season (early July 2011),
JF Calgary will occupy a space on 8th Ave within the Stephen Avenue
Outdoor Mall. Alberta has long been a target province for John Fluevog
Shoes as it has always held a special place in John's heart, especially
after he closed the Fox & Fluevog Edmonton store in 1981.
John's new Calgary retail space is in a restored historic factory
building, built of brick and Paskapoo sandstone that dates back to the
start of the century. Keeping the interior's antique tiled floor and
turn of the century advertisements painted on the exposed brick walls,
the space will be completely Fluevogified and many of the fixtures are
being handmade as we speak. There is also a rumour that John has plans
for an amazing Fluevogian surprise that will eventually be installed on
the mezzanine level. The Stephen Avenue mall is closed to traffic during the day, making it
the perfect downtown area to stroll whether you're in the mood to have a
bite, shop for unique shoes, or just to hang out in the many galleries,
theatres and nightclubs. Won't be long now - and we can't wait to
finally open!!
