Kidney Awareness Shoes and Enamel Pin to Launch on March 6th

Some of you may or may not know that John had a kidney transplant in 2025. In celebration of a successful operation as well as an effort to increase awareness around the need for donors and patient support, we’re excited to announce the release of what we’re dubbing “kidney shoes” on Friday, March 6th!

“We’re a feel-good shoe company. Why are we doing a body part shoe, you may ask? Some of you old-timers know we actually did a body part shoe in the past… a much sexier body part than a kidney.

Well, these kidney shoes are my response to my thankfulness and my way of giving back. It’s about bringing awareness to the shortage of and need for kidney donors.” — John Fluevog

Named after John’s kidney transplant donor and her husband respectively, The Patty and The Alan are special additions to our women’s and men’s collections this season. We’ve also created a beautiful enamel Kidney Pin to help complete the look.

“I was inspired to make the shoes two days after my operation when a doctor came to my hospital bed and gave me a “doctor bad” shoe drawing and said they thought I should make them.

They pointed to three straps, one each for the Ureter, Renal Artery, and Renal Vein of the kidney. She was most insistent on the blood red colour.

Even in my weakened state, I had no trouble realizing that this was a good idea. I passed it on to the team and these shoes are what came out. The women’s style first, and then the men’s, both with three straps and in a great blood red. For a “non-sexy” kidney shoe, I think they are very sexy indeed.” — John Fluevog

15% of all Patty and Alan shoe sales, as well as all profits from Kidney Pin sales, will be donated to The Kidney Foundation of Canada and the American Society of Transplantation Living Donor Circle of Excellence.
