Epic style for the casually sophisticated person who can't be bothered to try too hard

I have been wearing the Big Presence family of Fluevogs for years. As soon as I get wind sizes are arriving at the U.S. stores I call Denny, my favorite Fluevologist, and alert him that I am in need of whatever is on the way. This year’s Boudicca is no different!

As you’ll read in Amber’s review, she got the gorgeous Black, Silver, and Red pair, while I got the absolutely EXQUISITE Brown, Black, and Purple pair. The leather tooling is beautiful and really highlights the intricacy of the design, while the purple color on the inset areas of the design offer the wearer something just a little different, with a little extra depth, and in such a beautiful style.

These vogs are perfect to add a subtle touch of sass to a conservative business suit, they add a little bit of class when worn casually with jeans and a t-shirt, and really go with everything in-between. They basically make any outfit elevated and a little more special.

OK, now for the fit and deets: They fit true to size. While they’re a medium width, my narrow feet are just fine in them because of the divine (and adjustable) Mary Jane strap across the top. The toe box is generous, so my long toes fit comfortably with just enough wiggle room. The 3” heel is tall enough to let the wearer be sexy if s/he/they want to be, but not so high that you are uncomfortable walking and standing. The sole is leather, so you may want to put a pad for the the ball of your foot for some added comfort, and you’ll want to be a little careful about romping around in the rain with that leather sole.

I cannot stop looking at these shoes! They are iconic, they are wearable, they are beautiful, and I think you need a pair. Call your favorite fluevologist (or, better yet, go to a Fluevog store) and try on a pair. I bet a donut you’ll have a hard time leaving them behind.

Stunning!

The Boudicca in silver is absolutely stunning. On the silver scale of chrome to pewter/gun metal, it's on the pewter/gun metal side which makes it far more neutral in my opinion and perfect for day or night! The red accent is very subtle, so don't let that scare you away.

I'm not sure I own any others in this family, but frequently try them on and add them to my wish list. This one, there was no way I was leaving the store without it!

Size - I'm going with true to size .... street size.

I went with a 9, as the 9.5, while more comfortable for my slightly high instep, were too long. I'm getting them slightly stretched on the vamp, and with the adjustable straps, they are going to be a perfect fit! They also come in a brown/purple, which are beautiful as well. It's a mauve/pink purple and a really nice brown - very easy to coordinate with. Time will tell, but the heel height seems manageable for a full day of wear - just be mindful of the glossy leather sole, which is slippery when new (I'm getting mine topy'd), both for my own safety, and because I live in Rain-couver, which is not kind to leather soled shoes.
