The early bird catches the worm

From the moment I saw Melody I knew she was fabulous. Of course I waited. And waited . And then a series of unfortunate events they sold out of my SIZE 9. All my vogs are 9. I purchased the size 8 hoping they would fit. I opened the box and fell in love. I SHOULD HAVE NOT TRIED THEM ON. OF course they didn't fit. They were BEAUTIFUL. I'm so jealous of anyone who got them. MY SIZE 9 IS SOLD OUT. I'm begging the VOG gods to please restock the Melody and make size 9 for me.

Melody Mellow Perfection

I had to come on and share my first impressions of the Melody. I opened the box yesterday afternoon and inhaled the gorgeous scent of leather while admiring the soft sheen and suppleness of the leather. I pulled them on with jeans and a sweater - they are the outfit, no need to embellish - and headed out to the Nanaimo Blues Society Summertime Blues festival. I was walking on clouds, instantly. This wasn't unexpected because that's Mellows for you, but I was happy that they were the essence of Mellow comfort.

As for fit - I've got 5 other Mellows - 3 in size 9, recent BeBops and the Melody - and 3 in size 8, old Motown, Empress and a style who's name I can't recall. I find the 8s fit snugly but in a comfortable/broken in way. I'm happy to add thick socks in the 9s and feel that there MAY be toe touch in these newer ones in an 8. In other words, If you're a TTS8 in Mellows I think you'd be comfy in 9.

I have no extraordinary challenges - no high arches, sloth toes, bunions, larger calves/smaller calves - so I can't really speak to that. I feel that the zip plus lace options allow for some flexibility but, if your feet are Mellow-shaped, which mine seem to be, you'll be in heaven.

The height and fit is perfect. I'm an ankle boot person. Never wear skirts and rarely dresses. Mainly jeans and pants and sometimes tunics and leggings. I think shorter boots suit my style better than high boots. Having said that - the height and fit of the Melody is the sweet spot. I wore them, as you can see, with jeans over top. The jeans slid over perfectly and the boots still shone their beauty despite being partially hidden. Any wider in the calf and the jeans-over wouldn't have worked. Any higher, same. I think they'll also look stunning with leggings/skirts/dresses. i.e. they aren't bulky. They're like a sleek seal - in fit and in colour/sheen.

Who's gushing? Me?! Okay....I'm gushing. these are incredible and I want to send HUGE hugs and kisses to John for giving us another Mellow this season. xoxoxo

Edited to add - some have mentionned sagging around the ankle. Again, personal preference but I'm a fan of slouchy comfort and look so I wasn't put off before I received them. When I first put them on I could see some roominess (welcome) in the ankle. I tightened the laces a teensy bit at the ankle and loosened a bit at the top and, on me, they performed as shown. Flexibility, comfort, a slight "slouch" in the ankle area. Just like I like it. Your mileage may vary.
