Description
Whether Our Lady appears to you in the wilderness guiding you to the underground spring of holy water, or you're making shoes from a vision in your head, Miracles happen every day (at least they do here at Fluevog). Designed with delicate swooping curves upon a hand carved wooden last, The Lourdes boot was one of those magical styles that make you think God was guiding John's pencil. Made in a Peruvian factory that has a reputation for outstanding quality and craftsmanship, the Lourdes knee-high boot features 3" wrapped heels, delicious soft Peruvian suedes or leathers with patent trims, on a foot molding leather sole that would ensure you always shine in the guiding light.
Essential!
I was pleased to find that these babies fit great right out of the box when they arrived (with thick socks). I needed very little break-in time before wearing these out on the street. The width is great for me - my foot doesn't feel squeezed at all. They were a little tight across the instep at first, but the leather is buttery soft and loosens quickly. Not much in the way of arch support, and I'm thinking about getting a shallow insert for that. The leg circ. in this size is approx. 14", and it's probably 13-ish in smaller sizes.
I get compliments on them all the time, and I smile every time I open my closet and see them! They're essentials, in my book.
The most exquisite boots I've ever seen

Absolutely Beautiful
Pretty shoes, but so uncomfortable

Heart Broken
The black Lourdes was one of the pairs I tried on in size 10. They are so beautiful and comfortable. It broke my heart that I was not able to zip them up all the way. I ended up with a 2" gap near the top on my right calf and a 1& 3/4" gap on my left calf. I ran into this problem with the other zip up boots as well. Petrea, the store manager, was very helpful though and was able to find me some that fit. I ended up going with the Babycakes in a size 10 1/2. Please, please, pleeeaase consider making the calf area more adjustable for the larger shoe sizes in the future. (:`(
THE boots.
I can't recommend these enough, they will make you happy every time you put them on.
My first Fluevogs!
To be honest, initially I was a bit shocked at just HOW narrow these run - My usual European size is 39, which converts to an American 8.5, and I ordered these in 9.5 as I have wide feet and 8.5 wasn't available anyway (thanks god!). This very moment I'm stretching them, to get in at all I had to put thin, slippery plastic trash bags on my feet (works wonders!). And guess what? This WILL work, I was able to zip them up and I can feel them adjusting to my feet.
This is the most expensive fashion item I've ever bought, and I am so happy I did. Almost too pretty to wear, I'll have to wait for some really special occasion. As another reviewer has noted before, the colour is indeed rather burgundy than the bright red on the website, but equally gorgeous. I just hope the bottons won't drop off ...
Everybody mentioning the high prices: count yourself lucky if you're not in Europe, overseas shipping is f***ing expensive, and then there's that import tax!
Greetings to Anthony and Takeo in Montreal. I really enjoyed the personal touch with the little notes accompanying the parcel!
No Regrets
Sorry Paris...
Deco Delicious
I would share that one may want to purchase this shoe one size larger. I usually order my Fluevogs in a size 11, even though I wear a 10. This pair in particular seems a bit tight along the vamp of the shoe. I know once it stretches to fits to my foot, it will be fine!
Just Love Them
Pretty much heaven on earth.
Heavenly
Shortly after purchase, my boyfriend proposed. You can’t tell me this is coincidence.
Big thanks to the boys in NYC store for convincing me to go with the red. They are even more magnificent in the dreary English weather.
