Although the world is familiar with the story of Christopher Columbus, not many know of his younger brother Bartholomew Columbus. Brother Bart was a cartographer in Lisbon when he and big brother Chris came up with the travel route due west to the East Indies. Although missing Chris's first two voyages, Bart traveled to Hispaniola to meet up with his brother, founding Santo Domingo, the future capital of the Dominican Republic. Although not as famous, Bart is responsible for the popularity of the name Barty.
Like Bart Columbus, this unisexy satchel style bag is an overlooked and subtle bag from Fluevog, combining the best features from both Frontier Map Bags and the 40 Year Bags. Designed with one deep drop pocket with two leather pockets and a fabric sleeve on the interior, and two zipped pocket on the exterior, the Columbus Bag is quite utilitarian and fits a 15" laptop. Handmade in Mexico using tough, thick saddle leathers and brass hardware, the Columbus Bag uses buckles to close the front flap, and has both a tough leather handle and an adjustable shoulder strap for easy carrying.
