[An edited version of this interview first appeared in Issue 16 of The Fluevog Post (Spring/Summer 2021)]

Patrick Davidson, Fluevog Granville Manager
Years with Fluevog: 8

What are some of your favourite styles right now in…
Men’s: I love the Swordfish Family. Stay Sharp!
Women’s: Anything in the Baroque Family. It’s a mixture of classic and wild… kind of like me!

What was your first Fluevog experience?
I remember walking by the Fluevog Store in the late 90s and thinking, “Who in their right mind would ever wear these?” I realize now that I was not in my right mind then!

Describe Vancouver in a nutshell:
Vancouver on the exterior is a shell of beauty. On the interior, it’s nuts. It definitely is a hard nut to crack, but once you do it tastes real good.

Favourite part of working for Fluevog?
We’re all just a bunch of weirdos! It’s great to just be yourself and not have to tip-toe around anyone thinking that they might judge you.

Something that would surprise people about you:
I was the trumpet player for the Canadian Derby who used to call the horses to their post.

What has the last year taught you?
The last year has been a challenge for everyone. There must be balance, so I’m looking forward to some good times on the way! Also, when I look back on this time, I want to be proud of the person I was.

What is your favourite Fluevog Store (other than your own)?
New York City. Inside it has a similar vibe to Granville. It would be fun to live and work there for a bit.

Strangest pronunciation of Fluevog you’ve heard?
Johnny Flue always makes me laugh. “Hey, tell Johnny to make such and such again…”
