One day, I was walking down Haight Street when I was caught dead in my tracks. The gorgeous Magnolia boots were on display in the window and I couldn’t stop looking at them. After trying them on I simply could not stop thinking about how much I wanted those boots! Every time I was around Haight Street I would ask to go to the Fluevog store to see the boots. One day, about a year after I first saw them, I saw that the collection was going away. I knew if I didn’t get the boots I would always regret it. Since I was little, I had been baking with my grandma and had always wanted to sell baked goods in her name. So I thought, what better time to start selling than now? I asked anybody I knew if they wanted baked goods and if they did I would bake and they would pay me. I used all of my grandma’s original recipes and sold the baked goods under her name, Shirley. One day, I was on my computer when an ad for Fluevog popped up. I clicked on it and saw that my Magnolia boots had gone on sale and I had made enough money to buy them. I quickly told my mom and she said that we could go to the store later that day. After school, we stopped by the Fluevog store and I walked right up to the counter and asked to purchase the Magnolia boots. Denny, the Haight Street store manager, asked for my size, but when he looked for it, he only had one in another state. He asked if I wanted to have it shipped here and pay now and I said that would be great. I pulled out my manila envelope full of ones. Denny was shocked and asked for the story. I told him how I had earned the money to buy the boots and that this was all the cash I had from people buying my baked treats. We talked and took pictures and I thanked him and waited for the boots to arrive. About a week later, we got an email saying that they were ready for pick-up. We rushed to pick them up just in time for my 13th birthday. I wore them all day that day. I had so much fun in the boots — it was one of the best birthdays and definitely my best purchase.
