First of all, I must say, I LOVE FLUEVOGS! The story I am about to share with you is a true and very touching tale!
My grandmother first introduced me to Fluevogs when I was in my early twenties. Not that I could ever afford a pair at that age, but they were sort of a topic for us and we would exchange stories about various styles. We used to have coffee and browse the Fluevog website for hours, looking through all the different shoes and picking out some of our favourites!
My grandmother purchased my very first pair of Fluevogs for me and I was, of course, hooked. One day, Grandma realized that her aqua & silver Loires weren’t as easy for her to get on and off as they once were, so she gifted them to me and I wear them very proudly!
While researching the name of the Loires, I came across the Flummunity on Facebook and of course decided to join. I also joined a Canadian page as I live in British Columbia and really enjoy being a part of both communities and have made numerous friends!
I was on the phone with Grandma one day and she hinted that she was lonely and missed my Bumpa. All of a sudden, it dawned on me: I should share my Grandma with all the wonderful “Fluzies”! I made a post about Grandma, her love of Fluevogs, and her general zest for life, asking if anyone was willing to send her a card. Well, I can tell you that I received over 100 responses, even from as far as Africa! All of these wonderful humans were so thankful that I shared my grandmother with them and she started receiving letters and even gifts!
I guess my story is actually more of a ‘thank you’ than it is a story. This community of shoe lovers with incredibly huge hearts has made such a difference for my grandmother. Grandma turned 93 on June 3rd and I’m quite certain she spent at least part of her day returning notes!
