In case you can’t already tell, John’s Fall/Winter ’21 collection was heavily inspired by artists and musicians of the late ’60s and ’70s. As time travel continues to elude us, the next best (and maybe even better) option was to ask a few local, Vancouver-based artists to get in character for us instead!
Julian Nelson (in the Official Sabado), Chance Lovett (in the Autry Luana) and Amanda Sum (in the Go Groovy Nigel)
Each one individually and multi-talented, this dream crew of Amanda Sum, Julian Nelson and Chance Lovett are the captivating non-shoe stars of this season’s Fluevog Post. Currently working on her debut album, Amanda is an indie-pop artist and performer whose background in devised and experimental theatre has played a part in her deeply thoughtful approach to songwriting and recording. Originally from Saskatchewan, Julian is an actor, model and photographer whose willingness to try anything and naturally retro fashion sense fell perfectly in line with the vibe of the shoot. A former background singer turned solo artist, Chance started off doing soul covers with a band in Victoria and has now found her musical sweet spot in classic rock and country — though she still does a killer cover.
Chance’s latest EP ‘Some Little Songs’ and Amanda’s singles ‘Hot Headed Egos’, ‘Mary Shelley’ and ‘Groupthink’ are available now on all streaming platforms. You can learn more about all three artists at the links below!
