He has designed for UNICEF, Emile Henry, The Aga Khan Foundation, The Asia Foundation, and the World Bank. He also currently co-directs Moho Designs, a screen printing studio which produces hand printed, original apparel. His international and colorful palate includes works in mixed media, animation, sculpture, painting, and screen printing. Aurél is very excited to be the first FluevogCreative, narrowly winning the first public vote in the Paperboy Family Design contest - "It was so close in the end, I'm still hoping my fingernails will grow back in." "I just learned about Fluevogs recently. Takes us Europeans a little time to catch up. A friend of mine sent me the link, she said in an email, 'Aurél I think this contest has your name on it.' So I did it to prove her right. The part about the 250,000 print copies didn't hurt - and then there was the pressure from my girl friend about the $1000 of shoes." On the inspiration behind his winning submission: "At first, I was searching for something to say about the shoes visually and then I realized when I saw the picture I ended up using in the ad that the shoes themselves looked like they had something to say. They were totally screaming! The concept itself came in a snap, but the graphics took late into the night." Aurél has a screen printing company called MOHO designs with his fabulous girlfriend, and always looking for designs that are fit to print. When he isn't designing awesome graphic designs, you can find Aurél country hopping in my 1967 VW minibus (although at the moment he's still trying to figure out how to bring back from Afghanistan). Aurél's love of design is trumped only by his passion for reviving, restoring, and riding vintage European scooters. (Please contact him if you know of any scooters or spare parts in need of attention). www.aureldesaintandre.com Keep an eye out in ReadyMade, Juxtapose, and BRM magazines for Aurél's winning design in print.
