Derby Swirl (6 Eye)

I have lived in these boots for over a decade. Every time I buy a new pair I always wonder, "Where in the world will this pair take me?" Derby for life.

Simply beautiful shoes. Comfortable, sized accurately and well made. What I also appreciate to a large extent is that Josh at the Queen Street store in Toronto remembered me two months later when I had a question and was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. He extended an offer to follow-up in the future if I had further questions about my new shoes. This is part of the special experience of Fluevog and their great people. Thank you Josh. Scott

I have 3 pairs in different colours. The newer ones are aging very poorly. My older black pair needs resoling but the stitching is intact. The two newer ones seem to be disintegrating quickly. I bought the last pair in late 2023 and the stitching on the swirl has already ripped. I have another burgundy pair that's a little older (Maybe 2019?) and the edges of the swirls and heel pieces are frayed and white like they are made of cardboard. What gives?? I love the design on these but I am disappointed by the quality of the newer products.

I bought a pair of five eye derby swirls in a blue/green ruboff more than a decade ago. They’re still my comfortable go-to when I want to put some miles on my feet. Love these boots so much! Can’t say whether the extra height of a 6 eye derby swirl would be better or worse - but I can’t imagine anything being better. Try them for yourself and see what you think.

Couldn’t afford them back then. Still ridiculously expensive. Which is why most of wore Docs. Make them affordable please!

I have a pair of derby swirl 6 hole boots, but the sole is disintegrating on them, where can I order replacement soles?

I have been wearing Derby Swirls for over 25 years. And by wearing, I mean wearing every day, 10-12 months out of the year. The first pair lasted almost ten years, with some resolings. The quality has fluctuated and declined over time, but these were always good for at least five years (and I’ve never taken particularly special care of them). The recent re-design has rendered them a $450 joke. They are now costume shoes. The little toothed bit around the sole is wholly decorative and just attached with glue; it started popping off one month out of warranty. My cobbler (who is reputable and was recommended to me by the local Fluevog store) said that due to the new cemented construction, the whole sole would have to be replaced to properly fix them, and he quoted me $250. I couldn’t afford that (and wouldn’t pay it if I could— I’d shelled out over $400 for the things a year prior), so he did a temporary fix. One year later, those bits are popping off again, and water is seeping in from somewhere—just in time for winter weather! I’m not paying to have these fixed again; I’m getting new boots, and, for the first time in my adult life, they will not be Fluevogs. I'm gutted. I have loved these boots since I was a teenager. They have become part of my identity. They are what I think of when I think “shoes.” And now they are designed to be thrown in the trash after a year. This company doesn’t care about their product any longer, or about their customers; they are just hoping to fool enough people once.

So I life the burgundy derby swirls. It’s my favorite show I have ever owned. Here is the question, are the soul and heel( the rubber part) supposed to separate from the rest of the shoe in a yr? I bought two pairs because the min I wore them I wanted to make sure I had them for a long time. Well two pairs, 700 plus dollars and they only lasted a yr each because the glue gave way and the heels pulled away from the shoe. I’ve never had a shoe with a warranty but at over 300 a pair to have the shoe fall apart in 10 to 11 months kills me. I want another one but now they are almost 500. Not sure that’s work another 10 to 12 months. I have had tennis shoes from Walmart last longer.

Bought the red pair while I still lived in New Orleans a year or two ago (check out their store!). They broke in quite nicely and fit true to size. I still get compliments on them. The red is quite nice and versatile for different outfits.

These boots look great and are made well. But, shame on Fluevog. There were three layers of price tags on the box. Out of curiosity we peeled off the labels. Went from $429 to $489. The problem with this is, at the time of manufacturing Fluevog considered the cost of manufacturing them and getting them to the POS was $429. But there they sat, so as costs went up they just increased the cost of the boots, for no reason, because the cost to make them at the time was still only $429. It would make sense to increase your cost of new stock, but certainly not old stock. For that reason, we will not be purchasing Fluevogs ever again. If you're going to do dirty price increases like that again, maybe don't leave the old labels on the box.

They were too tight. I looked online and the next size up was sold out. I paid for a second pair in black the next size up hoping they would be better. They are not, sadly they do not come in size inclusive options for a wider foot. I reached out to customer service multiple times hoping a resolution could be reached. I was instead told the policy was that I could not be refunded for my unworn new in box boots due to the time that had passed from the order date. I live far away from Seattle and I work full time. I was hoping to save myself a costly trip to return boots and thought I should wait until the second pair had arrived before making the trip attempting to exchange the first pair just in case. I took a ferry there and back, $30 each way and paid $20 to park in the city to be met with poor customer service and made to feel like Cinderella! I tried on 9 pairs of shoes (would have been more, but they had a limited selection) the man there acted annoyed with me and I ended up walking out with the only thing that would fit. A $500 purse I did not want. Then walked 2 blocks away to the Doc Martin's store and had a very pleasant experience with the representative from his shop. She helped me find 2 pairs of comfortable boots. She said the return policy there is 30 days! I was told to call back when the manager was in. I just got off the phone with him. He offered me nothing but more attitude! I really think your return policy is unfair and the people representing you need a lesson in customer service! I love your designs, and IF I could wear them I would! Please do better! Please make more size inclusive shoes and treat your customers with a bit more respect! Sincerely, Jessika

I’ve been buying Fluevogs for a long time and funny enough, I’ve never owned a pair of the Derby. They are, as usual, beautifully made. My only issue is that they actually run a little bigger than stated on the website. I’m generally an 8.5 (depending on the family) and I feel I could’ve bought a half size smaller. That being said, I’ll either use an insole or thicker socks.

I just got these boots yesterday. I love them so much that I just had to wear them out of the store. They are comfortable new, no break in period. I wore them again today and love them even more (if that's possible). I wear an 8.5 in most fluevogs, I had to get these in a 9. The lady who helped me in the store was just the sweetest person and very knowledgeable. I recommend both the boots and the store.

I got a pair of these back when they started making them. My sister and mother came to visit me in NYC and my sister really wanted a pair of Fluevogs (she was much cooler than I). I got these, my sister got a taller version, and my mom tried not to freak out at how much we were spending on shoes 😂 Later that day, I got separated from them and was trucking all over the East Village searching (we didn’t have cell phones back then). I’d been walking for hours at this point, in brand new shoes, on concrete, and actually stopped at a corner in surprise when I realised that my feet felt great! I found them not long after. It was all good.

Love this green plaid color and these were my first Derbys! Everyone was right, that they are the most comfortable boots. I can see now why the Derby is so popular. It was recommended for me to get a 9.5 in these with my regular Vog size being a 9. The 9.5 fit perfectly! I can wear thicker and thinner socks with them and not have toe touch. No breaking in time, like with other boots- Doc Martens! It is so nice to just buy them and be able to wear them comfortably right away!

I love my Angels! From the first time I saw them I fell in luv. The coolest cute teacher at Indian Heritage High School has on the knee highs. I was transfixed! A few months later I began my new job as English teacher at Seattle Central Community College. One day on my lunch stroll I was passing by the Red Light vintage clothing store. And there in the window were a pair of knee high Angels in my size! I ran in to ask about them. The girl said someone else already put their name in as wanting to purchase. I was crushed. But then the girl said she would take my name in case she was a no show. Two days later I get a call... The Angels were mine! I rushed there and snatched them 16 year old daughter"swiped" puppies up! I then proceeded to get the ankle boots twice (because my 16 year old "swiped" mine!). Then I got the professional high heeled Angels version of LaProfessora. But the knee highs remained my faves. Long live Angels!

Fluevogs are my absolute favorite! The quality, comfort, and creative designs are everything I look for in a shoe and these babies never let me down. I’ve been wearing them since I found my first pair at a thrift store 12 years ago. I went vegan 5 years ago and got rid of all of my leather, including my beautiful collection of Vogs 😭 it was the hardest part of the transition so when I saw you started making vegan products I had to jump on these boots! They are just as beautiful and comfortable as the original leather ones. I’m thinking of buying a second pair to store away for backup just to be safe because I love them that much and don’t think I’ll ever be able to find a vegan boot as awesome. Thank you!!!!!

As soon as I saw the green plaid, I knew that I had to have these. Zero regrets. These are amazingly comfortable and look great. I cannot recommend these enough.

Really disappointed in the burgundy rub-off, they are truly rubbing off! Within 4 months my boots were peeling and cracked with chunks of leather flaking off. I went back to the Gastown store and spoke with the same sales-person who sold me the boots and she told me they're not for everyday wear and that it's basically my fault that they're disintegrating. I bought these boots full price and at the time of purchase was not told that these boots would not stand up to every day wear and tear.

I got my first pair of Fluevogs, derby swirls, 15 years ago. Now I finally have to replace them after a motorcycle accident in June. There was no question except, "does John still make them?" Luckily he does!

The Burgundy Rub Off Derby Swirl shoes are my favorite pair of shoes. It's not even funny how often I wear them. They so stinkin' comfortable; I could walk miles in these I tell you. The amount of compliments I get is uncountable too. If you're on the fence about getting these shoes, DON'T! BUY THEM. You won't regret it :)

I absolutely love my pair of Black Derby Swirl boots! After years of being chained to a desk relegated to only wearing Fluevog's "appropriate" enough to accompany "monkey suits" in the working world, I am finally free and enjoying semi-retirement. With my new found freedom I'm now able to sport the more hip and funky styles of Fluevog's that I always wanted to wear but couldn't. As I mentioned, these are my first pair of Fluevog boots and I absolutely love them. The hallmark Fluevog swirl pattern is a must have and now I finally do.

I wore this boot 6 or 7 times before the heel ripped off trying to take them off. No help from customer support, apparently they only stand behind the product for 8 months. Paid more money to get them fixed then ripped off in the same way same place again. Don’t waste your money

I bought these for my daughter; she's been eyeing all my Vogs and asked for them for her 13th birthday. They are gorgeous!! There's sparkle in the boot and laces that don't show up in the picture but that push them over the edge of fun and fancy! They fit a little small, she wears a 10 and we bought a 10.5 and these were perfect. It's taking everything in me to not order another pair for myself, they're that fantastic!

These were my first Fluevogs and now I don’t want to buy anything else. I wore these 100+ days and wear them for work. I love the quality and comfort and usually walk 5+ miles in them and my feet feel wonderful. My three girls are also big fans of all the fantastic shoes John designs.

I had a black pair in the ‘00s but my feet outgrew them. I remember wearing them out of the store and and all around Gastown in Vancouver for the day. So comfortable. So comfortable! I have a myriad of foot problems but I have no issues as long as I wear Fluevogs like these, the Officials, or Guardian Angels, and my RX plastic orthotics. I just got the blue patent leather with paisley. So fortunate to be able to afford them and to live in a city with a Fluevog store. You will walk in beauty and with grace everyday with Fluevog shoes.

These shoes at least for me ran very small. I ordered a 7 and they felt like a 6 1/2 at most and have now stretched into an extremely snug 7. Also weird grooves in the toe. I am still a fan and plan on ordering more Fluevogs in the future just sharing my truest opinion and experience.
