The Fluevog Artist Grant is a $10,000 fund designed to support the creative growth and development of up-and-coming talent within our community of Fluevogers. First awarded to Ottawa’s Anna Williams followed by Montréal’s Nico Williams, the grant re-opened this past March and we’re happy to be able to announce the latest recipient!
Francisco Berlanga is a contemporary artist based in Coquitlam, British Columbia whose practice focuses on using handmade art pieces to bridge the gap between identity, memory and culture. With his artist grant funds, Francisco intends to hand make an original serape-style blanket that incorporates elements that speak to his unique relationship to Mexican culture. He then intends to display the piece as a solo exhibition to inspire and encourage further exploration of culture and identity.
Congratulations to Francisco! We’re excited to see how your project comes along!
