Marisol was born and raised in San Francisco, California and works as a banking and business professional. She first learned about Fluevogs while browsing through knitting sock patterns on Ravelry. She could not believe her eyes as she noticed the glorious shoes the knitwear designers used to promote their patterns. The shoes were so unique and unlike anything she had ever seen before. They somehow made the patterns pop! Soon enough, she found out that they were Vogs. Her love of Vogs is still holding strong.
As a child of the 80’s – during the days of The Cure, The Smiths, Siouxsie and the MOD scene in San Francisco – Marisol found herself reminiscing on that time while designing The Makena. She drew inspiration from the awesome fashion of the period – the big jackets, long shirts, skirts, stirrup leggings, and particularly, a pair of white sling back flats that she used to wear quite often.
“They were nice and did the trick but they were not perfect”, she thought. So Marisol took the opportunity to make them perfect through Open Source Footwear. Little did she know that John would be so inspired by her sketch, he’d turn her shoe dreams into reality!
The Makena is available in stores and online now!!!
