All Natural at the Peanut Gallery

Fluevog Calgary’s latest Peanut Gallery exhibition features recent art work by local artist Diane McGeachy

In McGeachy’s work the relationship between the two dimensional (painting) and three dimensional (ceramic) is an ongoing fascination. Never adhering to a singular artistic genre, the representational and the abstract freely intermingle within her practice. Vibrant and daring hues challenge acceptable colour conventions while also representing what is ‘felt’ as opposed to what is ‘seen’. Ghostly creatures, fragments from the natural world, manufactured things and expressive forms are just some of the elements that merge together playfully on the same imagined and somewhat surreal picture plane. In All Natural you will find both painting and ceramic pieces shown alongside one another creating dialogue and suggesting narrative.

“Undercurrents of glorious imperfection, subversive aesthetics and idiosyncratic expression drive my practice and propel me into curious and varied directions. I stand at the intersection of many preoccupations: painting, ceramics, found objects, colour, animated character forms, the imperfect, wild life, consumerism, nature, the seen/ unseen and the ever-looming human impact upon the natural world. From this studio focus I attempt to make connections, evolve meanings and perhaps new understandings.”

All Natural will be exhibiting at The Peanut Gallery from October 5th to November 27th, 2020. During the exhibition 10% of all artwork sales will be donated to Skipping Stone Foundation.
