Kristin House, Fluevog Dallas Manager
Years with Fluevog: I celebrated my first year in April!
What was your first Fluevog experience?
There was a store in Deep Ellum back in the 80s and 90s called Moda. All of us goth and alternative people went there for cool clothes. They had an amazing shoe in the store that I had seen on Madonna and Lady Miss Kier. I HAD to have it. Turns out it was a Fluevog! Then I was hooked.
Describe Dallas in a nutshell:
Organized chaos with crazy hot weather.
Something that would surprise people about Dallas:
I don’t think people realize how huge and spread out Dallas is. Oh, and we do not all own a horse, a cowboy hat, or like country music.
Something that would surprise people about you:
Depends on whether they see me first or talk to me first. My thick Texan accent and phrases don’t necessarily “match” my style. I also have a degree in library science and majored in knowledge management.
What is your favourite Fluevog store (other than your own)?
I love the look of the Amsterdam and New York stores [Manhattan and Brooklyn].
Favourite part of working for Fluevog?
It sounds cliché, but it’s the people I work with, not just the ones in the Dallas store. I feel like we are a huge family. The shoes are a bonus.
Strangest pronunciation of Fluevog you’ve heard?
Probably my daughter. She told a friend that I work at a cool shoe store called “Fluevinhagen”.
