Fluevog Post Interview: Tina in Portland

[An edited version of this interview first appeared in Issue 15 of The Fluevog Post (Fall/Winter 2020)]

Tina Lamb, Fluevog Portland Manager
Years with Fluevog: 2

Where are you from originally?
Chicago

What was your first Fluevog experience?
I went into the Chicago store back in 2004 and was in disbelief of how wonderful and magical these shoes are. I fell in love instantly and eventually I treated myself to a pair of The Viardots in yellow.

Describe Portland in a nutshell:
Portland is a $6 donut and $4 craft beer delivered to you by a street artist riding a unicycle in the rain.

Portland favourites for:
Food: This is the food capital of America. If you can’t decide on which restaurant to go to, there are so many food carts.
Fun: Pedalpalooza, karaoke at the tiki bar, drag queen bingo, and Powell’s City of Books!

Something that would surprise people about Portland:
Despite being known for our rainy days, we have glorious sunny summer days where the sun doesn’t set until 9:30pm. Also, locals do not own umbrellas and I swear more people smoke cigarettes here than in Chicago.

Favourite part of working for Fluevog?
Being San Francisco manager Denny’s understudy and of course, my co-workers and customers.

Something that would surprise people about you:
I have been to over 30 Grateful Dead shows.

What is your favourite Fluevog store (other than your own)?
Chicago will always hold a special place in my heart.

Strangest pronunciation of Fluevog you’ve heard?
Flyebog
