It would be asking too much to expect you to make it to every Fluevogian city, so we do our best to bring them to you with StreetVogs. Partnering with local street photographers in the cities we call home, we haven’t once stopped loving this Instagram-driven collaboration that showcases the unique sights, souls and bits of culture found around every corner.
We caught up with some of our alumni to let them share a few words about shooting their respective cities. Stay tuned to @streetvogs on Instagram as the project continues to grow, perhaps to a city near you!

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen while out shooting?
I’ve witnessed car accidents, crimes, arrests, and people undressing in public, but my favorite memory occurred when I was standing on a street corner in downtown LA. There was a man in a medical supply delivery van drinking from a bottle of water and waiting for the light. Another car pulls up alongside and a guy who looked like a scarier version of Eminem leans out and says: Hey Boo, let me get a shot of that water! Without hesitating, the van guy shrugs and tosses the bottle over to the passenger. The passenger waterfalls some of the water into his mouth, tosses the bottle back, gives the van guy a combination peace/kiss gesture, and drives off.

What have you learned about your city because of, or while shooting?
While shooting, I learned so many things about San Francisco. It was fascinating to learn about the historical roots and stories behind the different neighborhoods and architecture. I also loved discovering and sharing bits of the local sub-cultures of San Francisco through my photography.

How would you describe the style of the people in your city?
Minneapolis and its inhabitants are hugely practical when it comes to everyday style. The city has a tendency for tempestuous weather and since people are happy to walk, sit on patios, bike and mingle outdoors regardless of the weather, sturdy styles — often in the style of Paul Bunyan — are always the top options for most.
