Streetvogs in Boston

A new round of Streetvogs has begun and this time, we’re taking a tour around a city John first made waves in back in the 80’s! Much has changed since then, so we’re happy to have our friend Michael, aka @grec_o, step in and show us the ropes with daily shots from the Beantown streets.

Follow us @StreetVogs and @Fluevog on Instagram for a unique look at this historic city through the lens of one talented Fluevographer.

We’ll let Michael tell you a bit more about his story himself:

I grew up away from the city in Narragansett, Rhode Island. I first got to know and love Boston when I moved onto Mission Hill. When I was living on Mission Hill I was going to school studying architecture. My campus was right on Huntington Avenue and the MFA and Isabella Stuart Gardner were right around the corner. Combined with many architectural classics scattered just a few streets away the city was a playground for exploring and learning. The city quickly became a catalyst for my photography. As I learned about the history, culture, and styles of the city, I tried to capture things with photography that I had never been interested in before. My idea of subject matter expanded exponentially from what I had grown up shooting.

While I was in school and then working as an Architect on Summer St. and then later in Allston, I interacted with and became a huge fan of Photoshop and the whole adobe suite. I learned the programs for architectural graphics purposes but the new level of possibilities they created for my photography was possibly more rewarding.

When I’m not photographing the city I try to adventure out into “nature” of some sort. That could be good hike, camping out somewhere and slowing down the pace; you name it I want to go. I will also take pictures of it. When I’m not doing either of those two things I’m working. I work full time doing architectural design and property management.

I look forward to sharing some of the highlights, landmarks, culture, and people of the beautiful city of Boston with you.CameraCliff
