So don’t be surprised if you find a Fluevog parcel on your doorstep sporting a fresh new look — they still contain the shoes you know and love, now in more sustainable packaging!
We’re sure you have questions, so here’s the breakdown (pun intended):
Why the switch to compostable mailers?
John has always said: good soles leave small prints (no matter your shoe size). So, as part of our effort to reduce unnecessary costs and excess packaging materials, we’re introducing 100% compostable poly mailers as a more economical shipping alternative for certain shipments.
What are Fluevog mailers made from?
Our compostable Fluevog mailers are made from plant-based materials including corn starch and corn waste, and fully biodegradable plastics, making them both stylish and sustainable. Plus, they’re printed using water-based, non-toxic inks.
Okay, but what are they actually made from?
30% corn starch, 10-15% PLA (polyactic acid made from corn waste and other plants), and 55-60% PBAT (a durable, biodegradable polymer that decomposes without leaving behind toxic residues).
How do they work?
Simply toss them into your compost at home or a municipal composting program after use and they’ll break down completely in about 180 days — leaving behind nutrients for a happier earth, and good karma for a happier you.
Will they still protect my shoes?
Our compostable Fluevog mailers are durable so you can trust that they’ll keep your shoes safe on their journey to you.
Will my order arrive in a Fluevog mailer?
Whether your order is shipped using our compostable Fluevog mailer will depend on the size of your order and/or shoebox, as well as store availability.
Can I reuse them?
Yes! Our Fluevog mailers come with an extra adhesive strip so you can feel free to reuse them, including for a return/exchange if needed.
