“Walk With Me” at The Underground Gallery

Fluevog Calgary‘s latest Underground Gallery exhibition will feature work from David Marion, a Calgary-based French photographer. Marion, who specializes in black and white photography, will be bringing his work to the gallery in early May with “Walk With Me” — a collection of photos printed on silver gelatin paper.

About David Marion
Born in Paris, France where he lived his formative years, photographer David Marion draws inspiration from French Humanist photography such as in the work of the great Henri Cartier-Bresson. Like Cartier-Bresson, Marion is drawn to candid images of street life and the everyday experience of being human. With a European sensibility as in Robert Frank and his notable work, The Americans, Marion takes a nuanced perspective of the mundane, offering a fresh and poetic lens of what captures his attention as he walks through the landscape of the changing city. Developing images in his dark room in Calgary, Alberta, Marion notes: “There is always some beauty in the banal. With print being that final line of the image, I am always surprised and inspired with what is revealed.”

Marion’s photo exhibition “Walk With Me” will be showing at The Underground Gallery from May 5th to July 29th, 2023.
