Alexandria Noël is a self-taught illustrator and designer who specializes in dark and intricate drawings of flora and fauna. She is constantly inspired by the juxtapositions found in nature, combined with themes of mythology and mysticism. Alexandria resides in the dense forests and misty coastlines of New England with her husband and two cats. She works by day as a branding and marketing designer but operates her own business as a one-woman powerhouse, offering hand made artwork and wares in the form of screen prints, clothing, and accessories in her own online store.
How long have you been Fluevogin’ for?
I fell in love with Fluevog when I saw my first pair of Swordfish Edwardian Hamburger booties in 2012. They were so perfect for me that I instantly fell in love and never looked back! I am all about the bold and unapologetically unique attitude that Fluevog represents.
On entering the contest and her winning design, “Mega Mummy Munster Clique”:
I always like to take a peek at the Fluevog Creative to see what is going on, but I knew I had to enter this time. This shoe was just too cool and too inspiring to pass up! Its daring curves and sharp angles really inspired the attitude of a rockstar that was Munster worthy. In combination with the shoe itself, its history, and the season, I immediately conjured up images of a modern Cleopatra and her equally unique pets—with a twist of course. The two Sphynx cats represent a little bit of rockstardom to me: the pink cat hints at Siouxsie Sioux and the blue cat gives a nod to David Bowie. (I may have had a little inspirational help from my own pet Sphynx as well)
Apart from art and design, what do you like to do for fun?
I think it’s important to take care of your own mind and body as well as having a connection with nature, so I really enjoy doing yoga (especially outside), hiking, and traveling with my husband. However, I fully embrace relaxing at home with some good movies or playing video games! I recently took up archery as a hobby, so I look forward to improving those skills as well!
What are your dreams?
My goal is to turn my own artwork and store into my full-time job, work for myself, and create and collaborate on some pretty amazing projects.
