How long has Anu been Fluevogin’ for?

I’ve been a Fluevog fan since I was a teenager. I remember checking out the store on Granville Street and being very impressed with all the unconventional and whimsical shoe styles. They were definitely unlike anything I had seen before!

On the entering the FluevogCreative contest & inspiration behind her winning ad ‘The Viv’:

When I first read the design brief and looked at the shoes, I knew I wanted my design to scream “vintage,” but also be as illustrative as possible. Fashion and art from the 60’s and 70’s have been fascinating subjects for me for a few years now, so I started looking through some of my resources, which included retro paper dolls, teen fashion magazine ads, and of course, comic books.

I thought an ad that resembled a comic page would be fun and unique, but the challenge was to make it effective as an advert as well. Once I sketched out thumbnail after thumbnail, I finally settled on a design and ran with it.

On how long it took for Anu to design her winning creative ad, ‘The Viv‘:

I can’t really remember the amount of hours it took from concept to completion, but it was spread over four days of hard work. I’ve wanted to submit designs for previous FluevogCreative contests, but I never really had enough time to give it my all until now.

On what the dreams and future hold for Anu:

I want to be able to live happily by making art in cool, creative studios. I’ve been warned that it’s a lofty dream to pursue, but I believe that I have the passion and the drive to make it happen. I’d also love to start a webcomic someday. No matter where I end up going in life, I want to make sure I always remain creative, open-minded, and curious.

Keep an eye out in CMYK, Applied Arts, Juxtapoz and Bust magazines for Anu’s winning design in print.
