Bonnie Lemaire began her career as a freelance illustrator with her first promotional post card in 1989. Her love affair with shoes began much earlier. She was wearing Fluevogs when she graduated from Ontario College of Art’s communication and design program in 1992 and took a position as artist/designer with Ganz and Brothers Canada. It was a valuable experience, catapulting her feet first into a successful freelance career where she applied all her experience, hard work and versatility into a variety of new directions.
Bonnie has seen her work utilized in many different projects, including home décor, giftware, sticker and toy design and children’s books. Children’s book illustration is her passion, integrating eccentric creations within fantastical stories, bringing smiles to small faces and delight to her readers all over the world. She is said to wear many hats in her career and she chooses to also wear funky shoes!
How long have you been Fluevogin’ for?
Fluevogin’ since the late 80’s… several pairs in my collection! I have worn Fluevogs to every special or important event in my life.. especially job interviews and more recently meeting new clients!
What was the inspiration behind Walk the Walk?
Walk the Walk to me is how I feel when I wear Fluevogs. I feel empowered, confident..and tall. People always take notice and it feels great!
Apart from art and design, what do you like to do for fun?
I love dinners out, dinners in, people watching on a patio (particularly looking at their shoes…), cooking, watching movies, dancing, painting and shoe shopping!
What are your dreams?
Someday, settling in a coastal community with my family, sharing art and recipes in my cafe/gallery.
