How long has Elizabeth Anderson been Fluevogin’ for?

I got my first pair of Fluevogs about 15 years ago and have been hooked ever since. I have a pair of Soprano boots that I’ve worn constantly for years. I’ve had to get a bit creative to keep them in action – the bottom of the soles are pretty much duct tape and glue at this point, but I just can’t give them up.

On entering the FluevogCreative contest and her inspiration behind the winning ad: “Soul Diving”:

I’m always inspired by the amazing submissions that Fluevog receives. Every time I look through the submission gallery, I promise myself I’ll get it together and enter next time. I did enter once before, but wished I could have put more time into it.

For this submission, I knew I wanted to create something sort of ethereal and ‘dreamy’ within the theme of water and a mermaid seemed to capture that essence. I was inspired by various illustrations/pictures I had seen of mermaids and wanted to create something a little unexpected: the mermaid that, of course, must have feet for Fluevog wearing…

It took about a week or so in total. I’d set it aside for a bit and then come back to it with new elements. I started with pen and ink, then did some watercolor backgrounds, then brought everything it into Photoshop and worked with color, etc.

What Elizabeth does professionally:

I work in a design studio in Napa that specializes in wine labels and packaging. I love working with typography and wine labels often provide the opportunity to get really creative with type. We also do print and publication work – page layout and editorial design, which is another area of design I really enjoy.

I’ve also been doing some projects with another studio here in Napa that does music and art festivals. We did the creative work for the Bottle Rock Napa Valley Festival – which was a really fun project.

What Elizabeth does for fun:

My favorite days are made of barbeques, flea markets, friends, and Elvis records.

Elizabeth’s dreams:

I’d really like to open my own design studio at some point, until then just to  continue to be creative and inspired by others…
