My name is Avery Follett i work at the Calgary location, my pronouns are they, them and today I am wearing Agave in the burgundy and black colourway. Today I am wearing this sci-fi fantasy t-shirt, it’s a couple series that I really like, with my tan cargo pants. I enjoy the way it looks and it feels super comfortable as well. I do like the accent between my burgundy Agave and some of the icons on my shirt and then I like to accentuate a little bit with my chain and with a couple studs in my ears.

Pride to me means I feel like in this day and age it’s getting scarier and harder to be out as a queer person or as an LGBTQ person. And so to live and walk through the world as a visibly queer person to dress that way and to be proud about it is kind of shining that light for other people to give them permission that it’s okay for you to do this too, you don’t have to be afraid. And I think that resisting that temptation to hide or to dress down is really important because once you lose that it’s so hard to get it back. And so I try to always dress authentically some days are harder some days are easier but I really try to be my true self when I’m going about my business.

We’re kind of moving out of sweater season but I am a big sweater person. I love a crew neck sweater so this is my dark fantasy anime sweater and it has kind of an acid wash effect that I love. I adore this red detailing on the sleeves and when I pair them with my black cargo joggers and my Agave I think it’s just a magical combination: the red the red the detailing I just really adore it.

My outfit choice will affect my personality depending on whether I’m feeling more masc or fem that day. I’m really always wearing earrings and the necklace but I like to play around with colors. Typically I’ll go with black or earth tones when I’m feeling more masculine that day and I’ll go with pastels maybe some pink if I’m feeling more feminine.

Today I am wearing my black baby embroidery sweatshirt with my designer sweatpants. I love that both of them have white embroidery and I’m really in love with the cyber sigilism detailing on them as well as the dye job. I feel like it gives a lot of cyberpunk, a lot of grit and grunge and I’m really attracted to that. And it gives a really good slouched appearance with both of them together.

I started exploring my style in high school but I always felt like I couldn’t really get there. I was a wannabe for the longest time but I’ve always been alternative, always wanted to explore kind of the darker fashion world and it’s through working here with some of my really fashionable co-workers that I’ve started to feel brave enough to get some of those pieces that really make me feel like me. I’m really inspired by new metal aesthetics, cyber punk stuff like that and I feel like this outfit really speaks to how my style has changed

Style Session with Sarah

Shop the Classy Lili

View video transcript
My name is Sarah, my pronouns are she her and today I’m wearing Lili. This is probably what I always think about wearing when I wake up in the morning. It’s the Anián jacket – or aneon I’m not really sure how to say it. And it’s great because if it’s a little cold outside I put it on and if it’s warm I take it off and, ta! I’m still really good-looking.

Lili is great cuz she’s made out of tapestry um I always wanted like that iconic cowboy boot but but I can’t get my feet in them because my instep is too high and so I bought Lili and when you wear her with, like, slightly longer jeans she kind of looks like a boot. Like, is it a shoe is it a boot? I don’t know. And it’s tapestry and it has that toe, so it’s like a cowboy boot.

This outfit I got this these pants like what feels like a million years ago um and I feel like everybody needs a nice pair of high-waisted pants because then they’re not strapped across your stomach when you’re really full. And then wide leg is perfect because there’s nothing really hugging you so if you need to catch a breeze you can and they look fancy without effort.

How do I decide what to wear each day? Usually I think about the shoes first and then I think about the weather: Is it really hot? Is it really cold? Is it going to be a million different temperatures? I usually start shoes first because I have a lot of just solid pieces, one color of clothing, um so it’s really the shoes that are the fun part. like the shoes are where I put my investment and my love and my personality and then I feel like my clothes are something that are really secondary they’re really just the piece that like shows the shoe as a statement.

The goal with all three of my outfits was to have one piece that I could wear and transition three different looks cuz that’s also my personality it’s kind of a little lazy but also like really smart. So the black t-shirt it goes well with jeans it goes well with dress pants and now, for the going out look, the ooh I’m fancy look, it’s an accordion skirt, which is so fun and airy and also
a very underrated instrument. Very great, yes!

My favorite Fluevogs, I have two, so my first favorite I guess would be my very first pair eight years ago, the Lyra from the Wonders family. She’s this wonderful sort of turquoise and metallic woody orange, she’s lovely. She’s my first pair, I still wear her, I love her, I feel like she’s going to be a bookend forever. And my second favorite pair are a pair that John made for me for my wedding and I absolutely love them we sort of figured out what we wanted together with the help of marketing and yeah they’re just tied to such a wonderful memory, of course they’re my favorite pair, yeah.

Style Session with Lauren

Shop the Queen Transcendent Elizabeth

View video transcript
My name is Lauren and my pronouns are she/they and I’ve chosen to wear the Elizabeth today because this is for me the shoe that started it all. Today this outfit is my standard when I have a meeting, when I want to feel a little bit more that boss lady type energy and so it’s just basic pair of skinny jeans that look good on just about everybody, a blazer because I feel like it just really kind of always looks a little bit more professional, kind of classes up things a bit. The t-shirt is from one of the first charity events that I had a big hand in here at the store.

I first kind of discovered my style when I started working here. This was the first job I had that really let me have that expression. I went to a private school and so it was always uniformed and then prior to being here I was in a vet clinic, so it was always scrub. While you get to have a lot of fun with the different tops, you don’t get to really develop yourself and present that, so being here I was able to really start to play with what I wanted to wear and how I wanted to express myself. It led to this kind of amazingly fun soccer mom and dressy style that I just always makes me feel really good about me and just always gives me that extra oomph in my step.

This outfit is kind of my staple going somewhere a little bit nicer so what I would probably wear out to Mother’s Day brunch or family event. A basic pair of black leggings, because who does not like to be super comfy, but the top is by an amazing Canadian designer named Lennard Taylor, based out of Winnipeg, so it’s all Canadian designed and made and it’s the classic Brenda shirt that just goes well with everything and for everybody, it’s just so flattering. [Whispers]It has pockets.

My favourite Fluevogs in my numbering collection now is my very first pair which is my Queen Transcendent Elizabeth. They started the whole thing and with their classic ball and claw heel they just drew me in. I had to come back after pregnancy to make sure I got them because they were just perfect so this outfit is one that I like because it’s something that can take me from a day at work to a evening at soccer with my kid. It’s just a basic wide legged pants that is great for running around, doing everything in, but also this jersey is from the new NSL team the Calgary Wild FC. It’s been amazing for my daughter to have that team here so when they released this jersey it was great. I wanted to get it because it was both beautiful but also gives my daughter something to look at
too, right, and look up to and for. I feel that expression through style is super important because it helps you show who you are and it helps you feel good about yourself because when you’re able to just be you and show that, you shine a little bit brighter and you just show that extra bit of confidence and world needs a little more of that.

Style Session with Zaq

Shop the Poser Shiloh

View video transcript
My name is Zaq i use all pronouns and I will be styling Shiloh today. This is just something that I would wear on a day-to-day basis: it’s fun, it’s got prints, it’s got colours. When I started personal training I wore gym clothes exclusively and I really felt that I lost a little sense of my own personality so I try and go for more playful and colourful styled outfits whether that’s through prints colours or just general kind of construction and shape. One thing I wish that I would see more in fashion of is kind of the I guess deconstruction of gender. Clothing can be worn and is for everybody. As a two spirit queer individual myself I don’t really necessarily go from one end to the other, it’s whatever I feel looks good, so I wish I saw that more in fashion and kind of more body type inclusivity. Clothing should be kind of for everybody, shown that everybody can wear it not just through influencers and people on Instagram but like right from out the gate.

This is me attempting to be business cas(usal). It’s a pencil skirt but it’s still got a fun top cuz, like I said, I enjoy brightness, prints, colours, things like that. I think anything should be fun and exciting to wear it out in public.

My outfits do change based off of my personality for that day and they can alter my personality. Like I said being a two-spirit individual I um live kind of within both masculine and feminine ideologies soul feeling, things like that, so my outfits definitely changes on how I feel that day. If I do feel more masculine I will go for a more masculine outfit, same thing with feeling more feminine for that day but I will say no matter what a good pair of heels [clicks tongue in approval], phenom.

I wore this to Sarah’s wedding and this is one of my favourite dresses to wear. Shiloh is just a beautiful addition to the reds and everything that’s in this and like it’s Renaissance. Who doesn’t love the Renaissance?

Being a personal trainer by day I typically live in gym clothes. I did that for many years so I kind of discovered my style when I walked away from that a little bit and even to this day my style is ever developing, ever growing and changing. It’s transitioned slowly throughout the years and I have found that Fluevogs just are that crème de la crème finishing piece that no matter what I’m wearing really make me feel good about myself, I feel beautiful, you know, all of the adjectives that you can think of. They’re just the perfect addition to anything, whether I’m going out for brunch, dinner, whatever.

A VogPride Series:

Style Session with Signe

Shop the VogClog Een

View video transcript
Hi! My name is Signe. I am rocking Een and my pronouns are she/they. I got this dress just a few blocks away at a consignment store. I’m very attracted to colour so it’s no surprise that I bought it. My favourite feature of the dress is that it’s actually open in the back and I just absolutely love when it becomes spring and then summer because I get to wear it. It’s no surprise that I will be wearing a different set of earrings every day. [plays with earrings] I just thought the pom poms were really fun.

One thing I’ve noticed especially working here is that people aren’t as confident as they should be when it comes to clothing. Being a really bright and colourful person I just wish that a lot of people wore what they wanted versus what they think society wants them to wear and I guess just be more eccentric people.

I got this gorgeous thing online [shoes dress] instantly fell in love with it. I love how it tightens here. I love the floral design, it’s super light, super fun and of course, it goes perfectly with Een. How I first discovered my style was that I actually just wear things that I love, so I don’t really have a style my style is to wear things that make me happy.

This is an outfit that I would definitely rock all the time. I love jeans, I personally love that these are two-tone pink with white, so much fun. You can essentially wear any top with it. And then of course I couldn’t help but uh rock socks with Een, because it’s just absolutely adorable and that’s how I live my life. [laughs]

So I used to decide what to wear each day by my Fluevog socks because I of course have an abundance of them and it was actually really really fun deciding what shoes to wear, what outfits to match. I very often will match my socks with my belts or of course any other accessories or top that I’m rocking. Now of course I just ask Google what the weather will be for the day. That’s a pretty safe bet.
