John Fluevog Shoes would like to issue a formal apology to various international postal services for being the root cause of disruptive and unnecessary mail mayhem this morning.
In what we believed would be a harmless and purely humorous gesture, we had stores ship out mismatched pairs of shoes, thinking that customers would find delight in this innocent April Fool’s Day stunt. Each pair of mismatched shoes had been packaged with appropriate clues that would lead Fluevogers to meet other Fluevogers who had been sent their correspondingly mismatched styles.
What we failed to predict was the ultimate burden we inadvertently placed on postal workers across the world, who found themselves dealing with dissatisfied, and at times, violent, Fluevogers demanding their merchandise be returned upon receipt.
“It was all in good fun,” said John Fluevog. “We thought people would get a kick out of it, but we are sincerely sorry for the trouble we ended up causing for postal workers everywhere. Fluevogers are a passionate people and we obviously underestimated their willingness to fight for the shoes they ordered.”
Once again, we regret that our good-natured actions caused such serious repercussions. Customers who received mismatched pairs of shoes will now be receiving their corrected orders hand-delivered by Fluevogologists, as many postal services have decided to take a break from handling Fluevog orders for the immediate future.
