Shoe Production: The Blake Stitch

The Blake Stitch is a nifty little construction method invented in the 1800s that produces durable, but lighter weight shoes than Goodyear Welted designs. Blake construction involves stitching the insole directly to the sole, with no added layer in-between, resulting in a more flexible, yet sturdy and sleek finished shoe.

Some shoes, like those in our Twin Turbine Family (pictured above) are partially blake constructed for flexibility around the toe with a more cushioned heel.
